what is wrong with people today? where have our morals gone? reading comments on news articles on another site just makes me wonder. Today I was reading a local news story and a bank in the area was robbed. The general oppinion of people commenting was "good for him I hope he gets away with it" remember that when the bank raises the intrest rates on loans and lowers your intrest on savings. another example a lady drives her car into the river and the comments are she was drunk so oh well. she is dead and it turns out she wasent drunk after all. have we all become so calous and uncaring? what happened to community, caring and general morals?

Despite a fear of sounding like an old geezer (which I am most definitely not), young people today are brought up without respect. Instead of receiving a smack on the hands for bad behaviour in schools, they are given detention after detention, about which they absolutely do not care. Suspension is just as useless (excellent, a break from school!). Children are taught that they are right no matter what they do, and to question authority at every turn. This has its good points, of course (leading them to question parents and thus preventing brainwashing), but it also teaches very little respect for rules and the law. Once these children leave the protection of their schools, they become the bank robbers that we read about in the papers. They wanted something, so why should they not get it? Their peers will then support this sense of entitlement, leading to the public opinion you observed.

I think that we are getting more dumb every day. Our moral values are conected with the idea to be a consumer. Money are the new icon and a highesT value . And how can we expect to be good when we turn ourselves into robotes serving a new God-The God of the material satisfaction

Educators and parents will realize that the habits which make a man wise do not necessarily make a man good. Intellectual habits will make a man a good violinist but will not make him moral. Education today concentrates on mental habits or knowledge, but not on moral habits or character. Thus result in people becoming walking bundles of habits, they would give more heed to their conduct in their plastic state.

Welcome to our new world. People are a full of jealousy, and people are full of bad intent for another person. They pretend to be friends, but secretly they won't wish your well at all. I saw a lot of people like that in our community, and even at work too. I despise them, and I never want to be friends with those people. Shame on them.

What is wrong with people today? Same as it has always been! My parents said the same thing forty odd years ago. Haven't you seen "Bonnie and Clyde"? We love the criminals. Always have done! People DO die! That's part of life too.

The world today is full of hatred, crimes and not a safe place for us anymore. The people's lives are not anymore centered with the will of God that's why it is easier for them to sin and do wrong to other person.Their judgement is always base in money, now money is the root of all evil.

there will be people that will claim that the problem is the decline in popularity of whichever religion they personally follow. which is not the case. morality isn't the preserve of religion, or any one specific religion. it's more that we have lost a sense of community. people strive for selfish goals, and don't even know their close neighbours, let alone care about them. without this community feeling, people have sort of lost their connection with other people. not only do some people feel they have a right to the posessions of others, but other people don't care that that person is stealing, as long as it's not from them. one thing that I think is a problem is that there is no longer a true transition from child to adult anymore. I bet that in tribes that still have coming of age rituals, you don't get feral gangs of teenagers. because the teenagers aspire to being respected as an adult, and actually earning that respect. rather than seeking respect in the wrong way, without earning it. just demanding it, and using violence to get a pretend version of respect. bring back community. bring back rites of passage into adulthood. if people are raised to respect community, they won't be so likely to abuse members of that community.

There is always someone rooting for the stupid ones. I despise bank robbers, but I fear it's mainly because I know I would never get away with it, so I always hope they get caught quickly. As for the lady driver, if I thought she was drunk, I know I would have been one of the ones saying "good riddance". But, I'm a rat, so a little unfeeling criticism is expected. When the story is reported one way and later changed, like the conclusion that she wasn't drunk, it's hard to apologize for earlier comments, but that doesn't mean we're not a little sorry. Caring doesn't always go hand-in-hand with community and certainly not with morality. The more moral some people feel they are, the more likely they are to criticize and appear unfeeling to the situations another finds themselves in. Personally, I just find human stupidity fascinating and can't help but approach every bad thing that happens as possibly the person's own fault. It makes my life so much less of a burden to think that someone above is punishing stupidity. When things happen to people who don't seem to deserve it, like the lady you mentioned driving into the water, then I have to wonder if someone above us is also suffering from stupidity, or, more likely, a viscious twisted sense of humor that makes mine seem normal. "What is wrong with people today?" Quite simply I fear they care too much, by butting into other people's business.

these days morals are gone because people have indulged in materialistic things. We became so greedy that we just care about ourselves and nobody else. We bacame so mean.now a days people just want to earn money and for that purpose they can do anything.
