If memory serves me right, all rice that is of the same type, meaning brown rice, white rice, minute rice, etc. will have the same cook time. This means that it is possible to mix the different lengths of grains of rice to cook. It won't effect the overall result at all, so if you need to mix the two different types of rice to eat for a side dish to go with your meal. Hope that you had the opportunity to enjoy your dinner.

I guess I have been spoiled by buying the minute rice boil bags. I had a coupon and bought a bunch and haven't gone back to the other stuff in a long time. I guess if the cooking direction have the same time, it shouldn't make a difference.

I think that it does make enough of a difference so that you'll need to cook them separately. You could prepare one in the microwave and the other on the stove to kind of eliminate some of the cooking time. I'm used to using the five minute pouches in the microwave myself, but I've cooked the five minute rice on the stove as well, just never cooked two diffrent style grains together.

Rice is used often in my home and I have mixed grains all the time. It has not mattered at all, as it has evenly cooked using the same temperature and steaming. It has not required any extra time and or water while I have cooked it, therefore you should be fine.

It has been a long time since I have followed instructions or rcipes. When I have different tipes of rice, I mix them (my clean hand does it) and down it goes to the sizzling oil with salt and garlic. I always fry the rice before cooking it. That makes it grained no matter what kind of rice it is. I Put less water than recipes say at the beginning and when the water has been absorbed, I sort of air it and add the rest of the water.
