Are you professional at your work place? If so, to what degree? Would you ignore your fellow worker at trouble if he/she needs your help and if you knew that if ignored it could benefit you directly or indirectly? This is actually what is taught in our schools nowadays, they don't directly say so, but they do indicate it like that. Ok so the person in trouble is surely has his/her faults for which he/she ended up being in trouble in the first place, but i see people who doesn't even show the minimum decency to at least provide them with their opinions. They call it professionalism, i call it bulls#1t. What do you think? Does the competition has grown so much at our workplace that, we need to forget that we might be in trouble some day and then every one will act like a jerk, cause back in the days we acted the same towards them.

"Don't do unto others what you don't want others do unto you" as what the Golden Role stated. In times that someone needs our help, we better open our hand to them cause not at all times all our favors are given. Help others for them to help you in times your in trouble.

Yes. But as long as we practice the right way, we are sure we can gain something out of it. Each person have different views, and we should respect our individuality...

I think you have got the term Professionalism mixed with the term called as Apathy. I do not think it is professional not to help your colleagues just in the hope that it might benefit you at a later time. I think professionalism is putting the company interests ahead of yours and that would really mean helping out the colleague in trouble. So I hope that clarifies the thought process for you. Cheers! From what i have seen, peoples here are taught and told to be professional, to look for ones career, no matter what, to go ahead leaving others behind, doesn't matter if its is a friend. That's what they(and not me) are telling people this days.
