Somedays are hard and some days even harder. Today, i just got home and i am tired from work. As a Nurse, my basic job is to attend my patients needs related to her/his condition. It was so hard for me today because one of my patients should have to undergo Myelogram in the cervical spine, that is after he was admitted with possible cervical injury. The problem is not in the procedure but to buy the special dye to diagnose the problem in the spine. The dye is only available at the outside pharmacy and it cost a lot, huh. My heart sank when the mother told me they can't afford to buy because its too expensive! What can I do? I am only the Nurse receiving a minimum salary. I wish i am so rich... to help the people in need! There were a couple of such situation in the past, but this is the highlight of my work today because I stay long for my patient, allowing him to verbalize his feelings. At the end of that day, he smiled and said Thank you to me... At least there was good in my day...What about yours???

hi there. first i wanted to say that i like your avatar, it kind of gave me a headache heheheh and then second, i also wanna be a nurse, i hope i pass the board exams but yeah, i wish sometimes i could also feel that way because there are just days that for me are too gloomy like there really is no reason to smile or something. but you also have a very good point, sometimes we just don't see other things and learn to appreciate them. i am sometimes eaten by my sadness from all the problems i have like in the family and studies and etc :( but i also wanted to thank you for this discussion. i am happy i saw this because it is like a reminder to me, to just appreciate what and who i have in my life. i may have big problems but there are still some people who have even worse ones. and yeah, i feel the same way too when i see my patients during our duty in college. but i hope i can continue taking care of many people when i pass the exam and finally be a nurse. and yes that is another thing i am worried about, the board exam thanks and happy mylotting

Hi again! Sorry, I changed my avatar that you liked. I am just proud to be Filipino so i am showing our flag! Don't worry too much, you are still young and if you won't make it this time, it's not yet the end of the world. At least this exam is an experience for you to know that its gonna be like next time. In other words, this is just a practice! But who knows you might pass. Then lucky you! I became a Reg Nurse just last Nov 2009, and now I am 40 but I still have some guts. Thanks God for the strength. While waiting for the result, I think its better if you have something to keep yourself busy, because its not good to think too much about it. Good nite!

Dear friend, you have started very nice discussion and more than that I liked your explanation, which was so much similar to my feelings sometimes. Yes there is always something good, no matter how bad you feel. It is just like the saying "I was crying for new shows till I so someone without legs" ....Whenever I feel I am the most unlucky, I start looking at people who are even more unfortunate than me.......at least, I am not blind, or lame, or deaf, or sick..........at least I have small house, and I am not on the road, at least I have bread and I am not sleeping hungry.....at least we try to help, though we cannot...AT the end of the day, you are back in your bed to sleep peacefully, isn't this enough to understand that God his happy with us and showers his blessing while we sleep. So I very much agree with you.......every day may not be good, but there surely is something good every day.

Yes, that is why i believe in the saying that "I had the blues because i had no shoes, upon the street I meet a man that had no feet". This was my comment in the other discussion, too. This sayings is inspiring someone to hope and to feel lucky, to give positive outlook in life. I hope this saying inspires you too, I know you are young, and there is so much in you, just continue do good. Good morning!

I don't this 50 is too old, although you are in the old adult bracket but you are not too old. Be happy with your life, I know you are, don't worry too much, let the time handle our problems hahah!

Good day to you whitewingspeak, With reference to your main topic discussion, you have a point on that - everyday may not be good but there is something good in everyday. But on my part, I really dont know. Maybe I was surrounded by too much tensions and pressures, that even there is something good in everyday, I was not able to saw and recognize it. Nevertheless, I still thank God for every blessings that He provides for me and for my loved ones.

Hi airasheila! I think you are thinking so negatively, maybe you need your time to give yourself time and space to grow. It is not good that we feel disatisfied, just think that we are still lucky compared to others. Thanking God is a sign that you still believe, and there is hope. Good morning from the Philippines..

I can relate how tiring it is. On my side not much with work, all my work is manageable. What makes my day tiring if i my friends/officemate consult me some personal and work related problems. Lifting up people and encouraging them to inspired thier day is so tiring. Almost everyday i do that. When i get home i am so tired, i feel like i lost all my energy. But it is good to know that you had help somehow other people may not be financially but emotionally and spiritually we lift them up to go on. So keep it up even if it is tiring.

Wow, I admire you for doing that to your friends. You know sometimes,I hide when I know that friends are looking for me to ask for financial help It happens when it becomes habitual already, and just for practical reasons maybe hiding from them is justifiable.

Your job is indeed very stressful. you will get stress because it is tiring to be a nurse. Also, you will find it stressful because you will get all the negative emotions of your patients. I guess, you need to learn how to separate your life to your job. Stay happy!

I know it is stressful, but at the end of the day when i have already endorsed my patients to the next shift, i transformed myself to being a carefree woman. You can't take bad emotions to your home, its bad for a nurse to experience such, because it is called counter-transference. I easily recover from stress because i have a lovely dog at home,I can go walk around the boulevard that is 5 mins from my place, and I can do a lot of things in the house that enjoys me
