I can't believe I missed our very own white sand beach here in the philippines, I was amazed and awestruck in the very beautiful shore of the beach. I am lucky enough to experience. Some people might think that I am fool, because they are been there back and forth, but for me that is the first time I've been there by my hard earned money. Sadly some people don't enough money to go there. But what do you think. We are filipinos and boracay is part of our country, why do you think its hard enough for us to have a vacation there. Why are there some people raising the price for us when we know from the first place its ours? What do you think?

Hi exkrima, Good for you for you have visited boracay. I'm also a filipina but never been there. But I am planning to have a vacation there maybe this year or next year. I'll first consult my boyfriends budget. And yea, it's really expensive there and I can't blame them for that's what we call business. If it's in demand it's really on the highest price. And you're asking raising price?ofcourse they will if you'll choose five star hotels, they have great facilities so you need to pay them back, I think that's very obvious. And if you're not a walking distance from that beautiful Island you gotta ride on plane how expensive that would be if it's not in promo. Some of my friends told me that they're are cheap room to stay and cheap food. :) And I know you enjoyed your stay there, that's really GREAT! :)

You should visit the great boracay once in a while. I mean its really beautiful and you won't get bored there. You can actually go there in a very cheap way like if you go there by plane you should book in a promo package. And once you are in there and you want a cheap place to stay try to rent a house its cheap but don't expect too much you can walk your way to the beach. And if you want some free lunch, Yup! free lunch there are some people there offering you a lunch, but you have to listen for there presentation that is all. Anyway good luck for your planned trip!Cheers!

You should have seen the Island during the eighties, it was more pristine and unspoiled , very few knew about the Island that time, then came the foreign tourists and backpackers, yes they brought in dollars and gave people work but it sort of made people more materialistic, people from other parts of Panay Islands were drawn there to work and so does the enterprising investors. There use to be a lot of pucca shells there, hoped they were not picked to extinction, the Boracay you see now is a commercialized version of what the Island use to be. I was also told by people in Aklan that during the seventies, the Island was used only as resting ground of Ati (pygmy like natives) fishermen.

I would really love to go there if only there is a possible time machine to go back through time just to see boracay, But unfortunately 80's is somehow for me, its either im still inside the womb or I am still young naive kid. hahaha! But for real I really loved to go there many elder groups told me that sand there way back was firmer and whiter when you looked at it. Too bad it become more commercialized and your right people become more materialistic. But what can we do? Our economy's is still going down. And they need to live. Though not the usual fishing but sales talking about some activities.

Hi exkrima! I could really see that you have enjoyed your vacation in Boracay. Though there are a lot of beautiful things that have been said to Boracay beach, it have been exclusively elusive and non accessible to other Filipino people (and that's include me). Probably the high price or cost of getting a great vacation in Boracay have limited its accessibility to foreigners and the "can afford" Filipino family. Just like most of our countrymen, I have not been in Boracay because I'm very much conscious about the cost it would take me and would rather expend it to a more important and appropriate needs. Hopefully I could also save some money and have a great time there just like what you did. Have a nice day!

I really wish you can save the money for some family vacation. I mean seriously its really a great place that you want to go back there again. If you go there for the first time you can have the time to check and plan ahead of time if you want to go back. There are many houses there that is affordable and convenient. There are some stores and shops which is also have a good price. But, first relax and enjoy. Besides, we only have one life and the experience you will get there is priceless. If you know what I mean. Safety and Peace tholitz!

Boracay has became so famous that everyone wants to go there but due it's location and the fame of the place and all these has its price. It all boils down to our budget, let's just face the reality that there are things that we can't get if we don't have enough money, that applies to Boracay too. The good thing is, the more people who go there, the better for the business establishments and the locals who depend on it for their employment. Let's just hope the the success of Boracay will be copied in other areas since this would be good for our local tourism.

I was one of the lucky to visit Boracay courtesy of a free vacation as prize for joining a blogging contest. I was really happy when I won that vacation package as I have no means to go there. I really enjoy the trip and wrote a post about it. I am going back there if I can save money because you have to have money to survive Boracay!

I also just had a wonderful experience there last June 24-27. We left here in Manila pouring heavily from Typhoon Falcon. I thought it was the same in Boracay when we arrive so we were hesitant to proceed. But since the Airline did not cancel our flight we went on with the trip. Arriving there was pretty amazed that the weather was not as worst as here in Manila. Me and my family did what we could in that place. We went island hopping and helmet diving and we had all enjoyed those activities in the island. I think it was worth the cost because the place is indeed a nice place and everyone enjoyed their stay there.

The more I hear about Boracay I would love to go to see it for myself. I love to see white sandy beaches and palm trees. I was lovely that you were able to visit Boracay Island. Yes, many other people that live in the Philippines wish to go there but can't afford to which is sad. It is meant to be popular with overseas travelers. There are other great beaches and beautiful islands to visit in the Philippines. When a place gets very touristy then the prices can go up very high.

Off to Boracay - Promo Trip to Boracay
Boracay it really a nice place. The white sand is really something not found in other shores of the Philippines. Nevertheless, I believe there are still other more undiscovered beaches here in the Philippines that could match that of Bora. Going to Bora can't be affordable to the poor of course. The place is far from Manila so you have to spend some big amount to go there. I am glad though that there are promo trips to Boracay which I usually take advantage of. One just have to be wiser when going to Bora. There are cheaper alternatives actually.

Hello! I, too, just had my first Boracay vacation last march, and I was so amazed with the place, very beautiful islands and caves, too. I was lucky because that was an all-expense paid trip by the company where I worked, but I also thought about the money you have to have in your pocket in order to enjoy the activities there. Maybe because Boracay is a tourist spot that's why they raised prices a little bit higher there, but I understand residents or locals are exempted from some fees. Boracay is a place where they earn their living, and with the beautiful scenery and beaches, they take advantage of it, so I think it's just fair to charge those prices. I just wish they only charge those outrageous prices to foreigners...

Actually you are right they need to take advantage of it, Fortunately for us we filipinos can bargain the price from other tourist. The one thing that bothers me, is just they keep popping out of nowhere and its really not good at all I hope they will have an organize pattern. But who am I to judge. Its a free country anyway. Cheers!

Our first trip to Boracay wasn't at all good. It was June and there was no sun. There were only gloomy clouds and the wind. The wind just blew the sand that hurt us on our legs badly. It is a good time though to do wind surfing and wake boarding. There are a lot of those there at that time. Anyway, I hope to expect a sunny Boracay next summer. I think one can travel without going broke. We usually get seat sale promos offered by local airlines whose travel dates are usually months ahead. I also do my research online and visit some travel forums to get feedbacks on cheap accommodations and the must-see-places so I can plan our itinerary and save on fares. This way we are able to save up for our trip.

Hi exkrima! Nice of you to go visit the one of the best resorts in the world! I have been there, too. I don't think it would be that expensive if it is your 2nd time. What makes it expensive is the plane ticket and hotel accommodation. But if you want a more exciting adventure, you go for a landtrip, if you are from Manila you can take Manila to Kalibo or Iloilo City then go by land to Caticlan. Then get a boat ride by yourself, just like the locals over there, and stroll in station 1 & 3 to get a cheaper hotel. Beachfront is expensive specially in station 2. Its just right that they are raising prices because they develop the place and they invested money. Well, a real adventure is travelling with a map only, well as for me that is because its how i want to enjoy my trip. !
