Date: 3rd July 2011 -- Place- Ann Arbor, Detroit -- downtown - 6 pm -- A man was wearing a mask of a Lion and playing violin. He was wearing black pant and white shirt with a small coat over the shirt. A family -- an old man, his wife and three children were walking near him. The lady stopped. Took a photo of this man and thanked him and left. Then the old man stopped and took a dollar note and dropped in a plate near the lamp post. The violin man thanked the old man and the family left. We were travelling in a car and I was gazing through this. On the one side you have big buildings on one side and on the other side -- unemployed people struggling for 2 meal a day. this situation is prevalent in all countries. I felt for that young man and I cannot do anything more than that.

My financial status right now is not so stable because my mother in law has to go through her chemo right now. I am sad about it but life has to go on but what I am really depressed though is that someone is taking advantage of you even though they know you are struggling so hard to earn additional money. You know what I am talking about is that lending company that puts additional burden to someone. I hope this world would be a better place to live in for those who are really suffering much.

Hi Ravisivan There are so many today in this type of situation, I know I am one who feels for so many I see. If I could help everyone, I definitely would. Sadly we all too have so much ongoing too in our own lives that we cannot help the entire world as you see home must always come first. Though I wish I had enough I would do exactly like you too.

Dear friend, I feel it is interconnected as rich are recognized because there are poor. Poor became poor because there are some rich people to make them so. But I feel most people like to be rich. Moreover as long as human wants goes on and on there would be no end for this, those able and capable to make money become rich and those not will be poor. I feel rich could help the poor to come up for a better life.

yes. all of us want to be rich. we do not want to be classifed as poor. rich should help the poor to an extent possible.

For me yes the poor is petty so be good to them because they are poor and only one stock in there mind that even if they are poor they want you to respect them.

Unfortunately this is the state of world economy today, and the crisis continues in many countries, which means there will probably be a lot more people in the streets looking for ways to survive. It's the sad reality of the times we all live and it happens everywhere.Anyway, people who try to survive by using their skills in the street instead of stealing or doing other bad things deserve more from this life,as I'm sure it's the case of that young man playing the violin in the streets.I hope that one day luck will be on his side and he will get out of poverty and play his instrument in much better places.

I feel badly for these people as well, what I have seen a lot of people doing though is recording them and posting the video on youtube and such so that they get some fame and more people go to see them. This may lead to them getting more money and if they are talented maybe someone who can help them will see it!

There are thousands of such people in all countries. Out of them probably five or six do succeed by getting fame and money in the latter years.

ravisivan oh that poor young man and its no better here in southern California. jobless rates sky high and for each job there are hundreds wanting it. I feel so helpless stuck here in Gold crest retirement center. My son is still in gov.sponsored apt with three other men all of whom had been out of work. my son has as yet only a part time job thats why he is where he is and I am here. we were evicted when my son lost his job and we had no family but us two. so we are doing the best we can. But I am thankful for a roof over my head. three meals a day and health care if I need it. I am 84 going on 85 so I am not a spring chicken,. lol.

Hello, Ravi. What you have narrated has been there all the time. Once I was in New York on some official trip and as I was taking a stroll sight seeing (off hours of course) I saw a man in a corner playing 4/5 instruments simultaneous, like one man orchestra, just for alms! That was almost 30 years ago. Nowadays, back in India, in my city at every traffic signal I see lot of beggars pestering the parked vehicle owners. Sorry for using the word 'pestering'. Yes, that is how they create the embarrassment, harassment. There are some reports that some of them indulge in unsocial activities. Some are just planted by some goons who encash the spoils. Some beggars have been known to have quite a lot of assets. Years ago when I was in Bombay (now Mumbai) small kits with broken limbs, pierced eyes begging in the local trains. All of them deliberately disabled for evoking sympathies from people like us. Yes poverty is a curse and drives a person to abysmal depths to eke out a living. But how is it generated? The major problem is the over population. Not everyone can have subsisting earning with such overload. Nor the distribution of wealth evenly is a solution. (Extreme socialism). As of now we can feel sympathy only. Almost all countries are democratically ruled. Surely some measures can be introduced to curb the 'menace' that is poverty in the proper direction - which I am of the firm opinion is limitation of population!!! Sorry it has become a long comment. Could have been another topic or a blog!

rich and poor is everywhere now, spread in all country which is rich country and poor country.I think I'm middle of it :D Both rich and poor is very normal situation and it's not something surprising because it's life, sometime ups and down. The rich one may workaholic people so they deserve for what they've got.In other side, the poor man is may lazy and beg from others, I don't say he deserve to be poor, but he really need to be more effort in his life, stop to beg but working harder.Other situation, rich and poor might be cause of lucky, and it's something I hate because it feel unjustice for anyone. NOthing to do but never stop to care to others, care is not means "give little money", but also advice or guidance to make someone else life worthy and better.
