When there is hardly nothing in the kitchen but there are some things like can foods and you know the regular every day spices maybe a few tortillas bread, butter, sugar, can you make something out of nothing? I have sen my husband go in the kitchen when there was hardly anything in there and make a meal!! L.O.L. But I just go in there when we are low on food and loo around and I don't know what to do or how he does it? Can you do it? Have you done it make something out of nothing?

Oh yes and there are times when grocery is low as we have not gone to the market. So a little rice with butter can actually be a nice quick meal. Oh and add some onion and corn. Voila not a glamorous meal but all are satisfied. lol

Well there is nothing and there is nothing. I can generally make something, but things like eggs and vegetables - tomatoes or potatoes can make meals possible. Canned food helps, but you need the right kinds of cans, canned beans (pork and beans works well) with some spices a little lettuce rolled in a tortilla can make a meal served with a salad or chips. If you have a little flour, with milk and butter it will make a white sauce or bechamel and on top of pre cooked sliced potatoes or pasta, some tuna and onions topped off with grated cheese will make a tasty tuna casserole. The thing is there are days that you open the cupboards and you either don't feel like anything there or you just don't have your basic ingredients that allow for a meal. There is the saying necessity is the mother of invention. I am sure many a meal was created spur of the moment and with little planning only to become popular. Hope you find something.

I can usually figure out something. It might not be a five star restaurant meal, but it will be something decent to eat.

I always like to improvise! Now it can get really bad sometimes. But thanks to the one who has given me things like my nose and a tongue-tip which can even taste poison, a tiny bit that is. Anyways, I am good at frying things together to make it something. Mixed 'I don't know what's are always tasty when fried. And my fingers have the salt crystals count! So it's never out of control in that faculty!!! So I do it. Sometimes something to drink with this 'God only knows' dish proves to a bit more luxurious! Even a plain glass of water adds something to it. If you want to try it, pray Him first!!!

hi if I had some canned tomatoes some pasta and a little left over meat like chicken or hamburger I would have a w onderful pasta dish with tomato meat sauce and lots of garlic and oregano thyme, and basil and it would be a delicious meal and if I had some leftover parmesan cheese for topping this would be really tasty.Canned foods can save the day and any noodles or pasta of any kind put together with some canned stuff can come up with a tasty dish of some sort.Canned soups will make pasta dishes good too.

No, I can't even do it when there is food in the kitchen. I just look around and think I don't want that or that or that. You get the picture. I do a lot better when I have decided in advance what I will be preparing. Then I stick to it. If I don't, my husband will say, "I thought you were going to make roast and potatoes." etc. Knowing that helps me follow through. Best Wishes!

Nope I can absolutely not do it =( I'm very lousy at kitchen work. But my mom is really good in the kitchen, even when there is nothing there she makes a really good meal. Moms have magic I guess lol I would love to inherit her skills.

I'm actually planning to make something tonight out of the normal stuff you find in the kitchen. I think it helps a lot when you do an internet search before it turns out to be a disaster lol. There are lots of cooking recipes on the internet and easy to make meals with easy to find ingredients lol.

I know cooking very well, i am the younger boy in my family. In my family, my parents, my sister, brother everyone knows cooking very well. So, if they will go somewhere, i only can cook something like fast foods are any other special item. Then i will eat it and sleep.

Hi jah! Hardly! That's impossible for me to do. If I don't see anything to cook in the kitchen, I go out and buy some food in the market or schedule a trip to the supermarket altogether.

I can do it. Now, I'm not going to say it was great each time but as long as I have some sort of meat, some noodles, cheese and basic spices I can usually make some sort of tasty casserole. I made some kick butt chicken enchiladas one time with left over baked chicken!

I grew up in a part of the country that was having very hard times because of the steel industry problems in the early 80's, so I learned at a very early age how to make "Ranger Hotdish (casserole)", which basically consisted of everything left in the house the day before payday ;) I think with the economy the way it is, we have to be happy cooking simpler meals and being able to stock up on more of the basics, in order to stretch the housekeeping dollars.

That is so true!!! We need to make our dollars stretch as far as they can go and especially when we go to the grocery store next time I am going try try to buy things that will last for a while!!!
