According to statistics, from year 2000 - 2009, there were around 6,000 motor vehicles were recalled. Up till last year 2010, there were million of cars were recalled. What actually wrong where those auto manufacturers. A recall is not simply a car won't be able turn on the A/C, or a window is unable to roll down, etc..... A recall is causing danger to safety. Also, won't our government mandate this safety issue, and tightly inspect the quality of those motor vehicles selling in the market? Just like FDA tightly inspect the safety issue with electronic and food? I heard that car rental is one sector, that they won't take responsibility on recalled cars, once the car is in recall issue, and when the car is lost control on the road. What do you think of it?

Interesting thought, and concept. And in reality how can everyone especially the Car Rental places keep track of all the cars being recalled, and what for. And where would they get the $$ to replace everything they recall as well? Personally a lot of it I think is on the consumer themselves to know what to look for when wanting to rent a car and know what is Best. Since everyone has control of driving those cars it is a lot to think about for sure.

I agree that the manufacturer should have tighter control over how a vehicle is made, but there will always be something that goes wrong, after all, they are only machines. As far as rental cars are concerned, they all should have whatever recall is needed for safety issues. People rent them all the time and they all should be maintained properly.
