A very weird Copa America

I guess no one could imagine that after the first two rounds of the Copa America, we could have Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay out of the next round. Ok, of course, that's is going to be really unlikely to happen, but it can happen. No one from the 3 favorites team won a match in this Copa America, but no one from the 3 lost a match either.
Who could imagine that the best team so far would be Chile! And that Venezuela would be the Group B leader! I guess no one!
What do you think of Copa America so far? Do you still have the same predictions as before?

I don´t predict about the Copa America, but I would surely go out to the streets to yell (with a mask due to my chemo) it they won. I am chilean and my late husband was a pro player in the best team Chile had in his time. They were champions here many times, they went abroad,They played several times with the Santos of Pele and and he went to the England World Cup in 1966. Yet we have never won the Copa America
Maybe it´s time.

His name was Humberto Donoso Bertolotto. You can check him at the web. He was a very good player but a much better man.

With the way the things are going, I think is pretty possible that a non-favorite team win this Copa America!
Really!? What a nice!! Just curious, can you say which player he was?

Well, I'm watching the Copa America because I'm interesting about the performance of my own team-country-Peru. Just on yesterday we were defeated in the game. However, we will pass to the next level. Yes, there are surprises, like as Venezuela, but football is going to change, and new teams are being protagonists, such as the Women's World Cup played in Germany.

Peru, for me, it was the biggest surprise. But, they are on the semifinal, so, everything can happen. Yes, Uruguay is a lot stronger team, but we can't predict any Copa America game anymore.

I guess you're right. I saw an interview from the Chile coach a few days ago saying that 4-5 years ago, Venezuela only did not want to lose a match for many goals, now the scenario is totally different.
But, sometimes I keep thinking, is really true that Venezuela and Peru are good teams? Or Brazil and Argentina are just facing a bad period?
I mean, I saw all matches of Venezuela and Peru and I, honestly, have to say that they are not good teams.

Taking the last World Cup as a reference, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile are the teams to look out for. The traditional powerhouse of Argentina and Brazil are left wanting, both in the World Cup and Copa America. As rightly pointed out, Chile is the team at the moment. If they can keep it up, then they are one to watch out for in the near future.

I agree that Chile can become a good team in the future, but for now, I think the reason why Chile is the best team so far is because Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay are playing bad, not because Chile have amazing players. Paraguay did a great World Cup too, but they are not showing a good football on Copa America too. They didn't won one match yet and they have to win their last match to qualify.
But, the amazing thing is that the first team to qualify for next round was Colombia.

I have had no time to follow the competition to closely, but I know that the giants are not performing well. I think the main reason is that the majority of players are active in Europe and they couldn't have a proper vacation nor a proper preparation to the tournament. But I am sure that these teams will qualify and the trophy will be won by a giant, like Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay or even Chile who has played nice football at the World Cup last year as well.

I´m all for Chile, as you must imagine. Although I know the difference between the giants and us, we must not forget the biblical story about David and Goliath
. Long time no see you, I´m glad to see you around, friend.

I'm glad to see you again, marguicha. Of course, you have to be a Chile fan and they are a pretty good team as well. We will see who are going to win this prestigious competition.

I'm a brazilian too!! I was expecting so much of this team with Ganso and Neymar. I thought that we finally would see the good football again after the awful Dunga's team, but it was really tough to watch these two last matches.

Yes really weird. For sure no one would imagine it, although it might happen and is possible that the two teams of Argentina and Brazil go out next round, as both are forced to win their matches and wait for some favorable results from others. I think both teams are still far from what they can do for the names they have, but both lack teamplay and only try to rely on individual game.
If the group phase would end today, Argentina would be out right now, Brazil are matched with Paraguay in 2nd and 3rd place, Mexico would be out as last in the group and Uruguay in 3rd place. Venezuela leader is another surprise too.
The only I would have predicted is Argentina, that was exhibiting poor play in the past friendlies and in the last world cup, and still I find it hard to win against Costa Rica!!!

The next round is going to be a really exciting one. All 3 favorites have to win their matches and, in my opinion, Argetina will have the easiest match. But after the past results, we never know what expect. I seriously didn't expect this perfomance of any of the 3 favorites. Yes, either of the 3 teams weren't doing good friendly matches, but the others teams of America are very weak.
