Well with the pill the hardest thing is if you do not take it at the same time or within 1 hr of the usual time you take it it will not work as well as usual and i am really bad at remembering to take pills i did take it everyday but never around the same time so that was my mistake in that case as for the patch that was eeasy once a week ya change it i did every sunday and it still failed me but yes i do agree they say the safest way to go is abstinance

it seems like almost everyone on here has had something not work for them, and although i know its not legit statistics, but unless the people who havent had anything fail arent posting, it seems as if the success rates are actually lower than they say

that makes sense.. i didnt know you would have to do it at a specific time ever day... that would make it very tough, because not very many people have a certain time they can do that every day... i know if i had to do that there is no way i could... but yea abstinence is the only way to ensure no pregnancy

Actually I dont have to think about it.....I'm 71 yrs old. But my choice in my younger days was abstinence.....since I never married. One thing for sure it wouldn't be Vatican Roulette, although I am a catholic. I suppose I would go for the pill only because it isn't messy.

i'm catholic also, but i definitely dont agree with all of the church's teachings... many of them seem too out dated for me, although many are there for the reasons they need to be, there just seem to be a few i cant see

that would definitely be the most sure-fire way to go about things now wouldnt it?

Before I had my tubal done I relied on the birth control pill. I have three children, two of which were birth control babies. I was married however so it wasn't all that bad. Now my method of BC is my tubal.

did you have any problems concieving the one child that wasnt when you were on the pill? i have heard it that the bcp really lowers your chance to have a successful pregnancy..

No I had no problems conceiving the one that wasn't a bc baby. It actually happened really quick. But I just think that me and their daddy were just both really fertile since we had 2 bc babies.

Nice topic...I don't think that I have seen this one before. I have had three kids and only one was planned though the news of their arrival was happy for each one, so yes I have had things fail :) must have been meant to be.

Once upon a time, I was on the pill. But it failed. That is where #3 came from. LOL But now, I don't have to worry about it since a hysterectomy. So I guess my contraception is missing parts. LOL

After my first son was born I was on the pill. I lost them, got pregnant a 2nd time (with a little girl), and now I'm on the pill again. And not looking to have anymore kids in the near future. We love our children so "suprises" are good. :o)

I prefer Pills. I've been using it for several years already and no problems so far. IUD is much dangerous.

do you not think that the pill is dangerous also?

I am on Ortho Evra and we also do pull-out since I'm sort of allergic to semen. It hasn't failed and I'm hoping it never does. Abortions are expencive. I'm hoping to start getting the Lunelle shot, or talk my gyn into letting me have Mirena which is a hormonal IUD. They're both more effective than Ortho Evra.
