Loving Someone as a Whole

During my grandpa's birthday I asked him, "Grandpa why is it that you fell in love with grandma? What made you fall for her? Is it her attitude, her smile, her beauty, or her wits? What part of her do you like the most?" My grandpa's reply was very simple yet it was so touching. "Everything about her", he said. I was kinda moved when I heard him say that because my grandpa wasn't really the romantic type of person and he is also not showy, yet he said it so naturally. I asked my grandma the same question and I got the same answer. This got me thinking, "Have I really been in love?!!!" When I try to recall all I ever did was set qualifications and love someone piece by piece. I love his eyes, his smile, his humor, or his smarts. I've been in love with the parts, the traits, and not really the person. So if that positive trait disappears my love for that person will also fade. So I haven't really been TRULY in love. Let me ask you this, Have you? How do you love someone? Is it by piece or wholly? I'd love to hear some of your thoughts.

When we love someone, you will surely love everything about that person.
Because we cannot totally/fully love that person if we only love a few of his/her attitude and being.
We should love someone as a whole...it's like a package deal.
And not only the person..but also the people that he/she loves...we also should/must love them.

Well you were right about the package deal. You can't ask someone to serve a pizza without toppings. Hehehe. And yes I agree that we must also learn to love the people they love or those that are important to them. This is also a challenging role specially to those people who experienced having what we call "MONSTER-in-laws. Hehehe.. LOL.

People fall in love as a whole as ur grand father or grand mother. Nowadays people like parts of others. that is why it is resulting in divorce or separation after giving birth to one or two kids.
As told by jaiho when u love a person u must like everything about him and be willing to give up more and more.

Yes you are right. So before marrying someone, one must first evaluate his or herself if he or she really loves the person as a whole or she is just attracted to one particular characteristic. Because if he or she is only attracted to one part there is a possibility that when that part vanishes through time (aging) he or she will lose the love she felt for that person.
