The Ole' classic American breakfast!

Hi everyone:) I noticed today, in the morning, that I am attracted to toasted croissants with cream cheese or a bagel with cream cheese. Now, I call this an american classic breakfast because since the 1970s, movies have always painted of how a perfect american family would be like. The father figure is always eating either a croissant or a bagel. I wonder why?
is anyone is like me?

I guess mine could be called an American breakfast too. It usually consist of a small bowl of oatmeal,two slices of bread with choices of different spreads and a cup of coffee. I would sometimes eat an avocado in lieu of the oatmeal.
I guess, it being light , is by itself already an American breakfast?
