I recently took a job interview for a technical position(Software Enineering in Testing) at a famous internet company's US office. As a result, I did not get the offer and I was told my communication skills is not good enough. I know communication is not my strength, but I did not realize it is so poor that it become an obstacle for me to get the technical job position. Now I really want to improve myself. So how to improve communications? I know some ways, like doing lots of practice. What about you guys' opnion? Any ideas or suggestions are welcome. PS: My spoken english is not very fluent, I think this might be one reason of my poor communication skills.

Maybe you try taking an ESOL class. That can help you improve your communication skils. Getting a job is so hard in this economy. I hope you get another chance and get an interview somewhere else and get the job.

Same here man, I need to be doing some improvement on my communication skill. I need to be a bit witty and smart in talking, otherwise, I just won't be success as others. I need this to be done as daily practice though. Oh gosh, it is so hard to make people understand me, and it is so hard for me to understand others. It is about mutual communication, and make people understand the concept of talking.

As a speech/language teacher I advice that you start with the basics. You may buy speech lesson videos it will help a lot. There is nothing wrong about that. You will learn gradually especially when you speak the language constantly and dont be too conscious with what you are saying because it will not help. Moreover, I advise you to watch American movies or sitcoms and try to imitate their lines-this is a tip given to me by my professor when i also had the struggle speaking the second language.
