For My Future Health I Have to Simplify

I am reading an article that really hits where I need it. It is talking about living a life of peace by living simply. I do not have any heath problems except vitiligo, which is the loss of color pigmentation. This is worsened with stress. Well, just like you I am sure, I have so much stress going on in my life right now and I HAVE to learn how to control it so that the stress doesn't eat up my healthy body. This article suggests first of all one thing that I am GUILTY of. As I am doing one job I am hurriedly trying to get through it and get it done to get to the next job. I do not take one moment at a time. I am constantly thinking if I can get this activity over with then I'll start on this one or I sure will be glad when this is over. I am constantly in the process of trying to get thru this chore and get to the next. Even when I start a craft I am thinking oh I wish I could hurry and get this done then I'd do so and so. This is constant stress in my life by rushing my life away and not enjoying every moment of my life. I am not cherishing my life and the moments I have with my hubby and kids and grandchildren. This is such an eye opener. I had been working on accepting each moment as it was given to me and lo and behold I keep saying God is in control so I know He is doing what He wants done and it is in His will and time. I know He takes care of the birds and lilies so I know He will take care of me and my needs. What is so awesome is He is in control of everything so why don't I just accept that and enjoy each moment to the fullest. I just read in the Bible this morning in the New Living Translation that God even determines how the dice fall. Something as minute as that, Can you believe that! This may not be for any of you but this writing this discussion has meant a lot to me and is helping reinforce that I HAVE to slow down and simplify my life for my future health's sake and so as not to lose one moment with my family and friends because we won't have each other forever. May each one of you have a blessed weekend.

I do agree with you when you said we should be living a simple life but today you can't really avoid living a complicated one. Sometimes you have to live with stress in order to put food on the table. If we don't push ourselves towards our goals, we won't reach success.

You have a good points, frontvisions, but I guess it is the way we pursue our goals. I know sometimes it seems we have no choice but we really have a choice in the way we are feeling inside and the choice of how we are dealing with the "stress". Thanks so much for your comments.

I understand what you are saying. It is important for the majority of us to slow down. I'm personally always mult-tasking because it seems like if i don't then I wouldn't get anything done or accomplished. Everyday there are things to be. Cleaning, cooking, taking care of my daughter, and husband. Like you i rush from one task to the next, not really stopping to think or reflect on anything other than what must be done. On top of all this I have to work a little outside the home and so that takes my attention as well. Research has shown that stress is really bad for our health, and it doesn't get us anywhere. Being stressed out on causes harm physically as well as emotionally. So as much effort as we put into rushing from one thing another we need to concentrate that effort on actually relaxing and taking time to enjoy simple things and simple living. You also mentioned how God takes care of the birds and lilies and that is exactly right so we can have confidence that he values us more.

I hope you will join me, Dominique25, as we try to simplify our lives and enjoy each moment to the fullest without rushing it away and multi-tasking. I read an article on multi-tasking and it is not healthy for us at all. I may write a discussion on it later on. I know what you mean by the cooking, cleaning, taking care of six grandchildren, and all my church obligations I have over extended myself but the funny part is that I don't see one thing to stop doing. It is all life as it happens. LOL I am going to try to slow down and enjoy the moment as it happens and know that God is going to take care of us. He is in control and He certainly knows what is best for us. Thanks for your comment and God bless you!

If only I could remind myself of this constantly! I guess we know why you didn't earn money for this discussion the other day. I just got it a few hours ago. I guess mylot is in the midst of some glitches.

Hi Cathie, it's important sometimes to slow down a little bit. I totally understand you. But for me, things are not going to work out if I slow down. I have three jobs, and still so much things I want to try to do in my life. That's to say I'm rushing every day and every minutes. I know if I don't rush, I probably couldn't go to Greece next year, or could not buy my Mom a new bed. Life is so expensive!
