How to give volume to my limp hair?

Hello guys, I have a fine, straight, limp hair. I used to sport a long hairstyle but then again I got bored with it. So I had a pixie cut. But the problem is, whenever I use conditioner my hair becomes more limp. With no body at all. I used gel, clay and mousse but nothing seem to work. For awhile it will hold the style I want but after a few hours its back to limp hair. Can you help me with this?

I used to have that problem too. What I would use is pantene extra volume shampoo to wash my hair. I would only use the conditioner a couple times a week, cuz my hair didn't really need it. But for extra volume I would use garnier fructise mousse only on the roots and blow dry my hair upside down.(like bending over lol) but yeah I know what's its like. I keep my hair long because it gets so thin when its short. So good luck finding something that works for you and hope I helped.

Thanks Silver Vixen. I will definitely try those products you've mentioned. I'm interested with Garnier mousse. Hope it will work for my hair too. I don't usually blow dry my hair cause it can really damage my hair. I have colored hair so I have to protect it from excessive blow drying so it won't get dry and still maintain the nice color of it. Thanks again.

You can get a spray to protect your hair against damage from blow drying and straight irons. I don't remember what's called but I use it and it works great. Also you can stop blowdrying before it gets completely dry and try not to get the tips. I've been dying my hair crazy colors for the past 8 years so I understand the not wanting to damage it. It takes alot of trial and error to find the best way to do your hair, and you can mess it up so quick. Trust me, I know.lol and you can buy a clear shine conditioner to preserve the color longer too, but I've only found it at specialty color shops.

Try drying your hair with a blower using a rounded brush. Use a clarifying shampoo at least once a week. Suave has a clear shampoo. Other shampoos have a lot of chemicals that can sometimes cause hair to limp as they contain heavy chemicals. Even those shampoos claiming to have natural ingredients are not actually natural. YOu can also use baby shampoos as they have less harsh chemicals. I too have fine limp hair. I used to have the same hairstyle with you. Two years ago i decided to sport a long hair and also got tired so what i did a few months ago was perm it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I like my hairstyle but its difficult to maintain. At times when I'm lazy to fix it I just go out even if its still wet. I'll try what you've said and hope it works for me. Thanks again.

You can back home your hair gently and do whatever else that you always do. Back combing adds volume to one's hair. But see that you do not pull your hair as it might result in hair dropping.

I have trhe same problem but as recewntly went to the hairdressers to get my roots re-done and I have just washed it this morning with my posh density shampoo I don't feel I need to worry about this. You can get volumising shampoos in boots or you can use a defuser attchment on your hairdrier. I hope this helps.

I suggest you use a volumizing mousse. Or like you said, mousse doesn't work, if it doesn't work then go to a professional, skilled, trained hair stylist. He or she shall be able to cut or style your hair in a hairstyle that will add volume. Hope that works.

Yes I've tried going to a hair stylist and made a style that adds volume to my hair. But my hair grows fast. Every two weeks i have to go to the salon to had a hair cut to maintain the style I want. Well it costs a lot so I'm looking for other options. Thanks for the help.
