Getting Started as a Freelance Writer

My friend is about to start freelancing. I was wondering if anyone has some suggestions on the best sites for upfront payments. Also, what are some good sites for earning money based on hits?

There are a number of freelance writing sites here on the internet, for writing articles, short stories, reviews, commentaries, and so on. The bets way would be to make a search using myLot search engine or other search engines. You will find the whole list of writing sites. In fact, freelance writing is my favorite hobby too.
