How do you see Obama's meeting with Dalai Lama?

China
July 17, 2011 10:59pm CST
On Saturday, President Obama met with Dalai Lama at the White House, which severely hurted the feelings of the Chinese people and damaged China-U.S. relations. I am a Chinese, I deeply felt that and think that the America is a coutry whose deeds don't match its words. As it known to all, American leaders had agreed with the standpoint that the Tibet is part of China in public many times. But on the other hand, they frequently meet with Dalai Lama and other anti-China groups. It seems that Washington has ulterior motives as the meeting came in the midst of the Chinese government efforts to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the peaceful liberation of Tibet. So how do you see this meeting and what's the purpose of the U.S. and Dalai Lama.

The President's meeting with the Dalai Lama means several things. One is, as noted, that the United States supports the desires of the Tibetan people for freedom from Chinese occupation and oppression. A second is that the Dalai Lama is a religious leader. The President of the United States meets with lots of religious leaders. Don't worry: we know that you don't actually think Tibet was "peacefully liberated" from anything, it's just that your government will come after you if you don't spout their propaganda.

Thank you for your response and I noticed that you had used the two words: occupation and oppression. These words are used to describe bandits and the China in my eyes is not so, it's real. Maybe to some extent U.S. is more democratic than China, but it's decided by the regime. But our government aims to serve people, that's important than anything.

Good job that you're still repeating Chinese governmental propaganda, calling the Tibetan people bandits because they don't want to be governed by the Chinese government. Keep safe. Perhaps in China whether the government is democratic is decided by the regime. Here in the United States, it's decided by the people. In the entire U.S. history, no regime has ever attempted to be less democratic. If your government actually aimed to serve the people, it would immediately withdraw from Tibet. One cannot serve the people against their will.

The aggression and subsequent conquest of Tibet was far from a peaceful liberation. It is hard to liberate a people who do not desire it and do not have anything they wish to be liberated from.

Most tibetan people lead a good life with the development of the Chinese economy. Do they live in prison? Communist don't give them food? So why do you think they are not desire it? Have you seen it in person?

I guess by that logic, Africans were "peacefully liberated" from their families to be sold to people in other countries.

I am a Chinese. Now I start to doubt so many things since we can't really speak. There are many things like this, such as the Chinese Red Cross scandal. Many speech are deleted online. And I think you know we can't visit some websites such as Youtube, Facebook, Twitter and so on. Why? Now I can use the old tone from our leader to comment this issue: China should not interfere the internal business of USA. I love China

President Obama is the elected president of the most powerful nation on earth, he doesn't need permission from you, and your commmunist's leaders to meet whoever he want to see. Just get over with it, you know as well as i know (i do hope so) Tibet is occupied by your communist regime, Dalai Lama is the chosen leader of his own people that was forced into exile in India, he is no enermy and pose no threat to your great and evil communist empire in east Asia. Your whiningand ranting is getting old about Dalai Lama and president Obama meeting. Remember, you are just a small fly compare to Dalai Lama and President Obama, so stop pretending you don't know about Tibet's history.

You are closer to Tibet, doesn't means it give you the right to occupy the country, you want to buy U.S treasury, doesn't means that your bandit regime is in good relationship with us. It is China that depend on us to buy its product, not the other way around, keep that in your pea size brain. If small fly like you continue to whine about the meeting of President Obama and Dalai Lama, you will lose your sleep over the meeting, so tell me what a bandit communist like you can do, attack U.S with your red army, or continue to behave like a bandit and cry over it. ....get over with it, dude!!

Remember dude! President Obama is not a chinese man, you can't really threaten him or even have him arrested for meeting up with Dalai Lama, the most you can do is through diplomatic protest without torturing. So take my advice, get OVER with it, it is not worth wasting your time as well as mine losing sleep over their meeting ...

Are you nearer to Tibet compare with me? Do you understand Chinese history more or less? No! The United state is not the sole country that exists in the world. It must consider the benefit of other contries. You know, China has $600 billion U.S. Teasury bonds, and the relationship between our two countries is more closer. In other words, your country can't pay no heed of our statement on this issue, including the president Obama. He is a president and should consider more when facing those things that may influence the partnership with China. Last, I want to emphasize one thing that is I'm not a fly especially when I talk with a foreigner, I represent a great country and should defend for my motherland. I think you will do so if American interests were being hurted.

Why is america looking for ways to break up china. They are support Tibet uprising to make this part of china break off so as to weak the economic and military power of china. The american government claim they are promoting and supporting democracy around the world. But have the american promoted democracy within america? There are a lot of americans who want freedom, they do not want to belong to the union called the united states. But america is suppressing all this agitations and going to other countries to poke nose in their own affairs. What have the american leadership done to support the oppress in america? Nothing! Look at Libya, america is part of NATO who is trying to oust Gadhafi from power. There is a threat that if the alliance fails to oust him from power, Libya stand a chance of being divided into two countries. One with capital in Benghazi and the other one in Tripoli. The libyan people may desire democracy but they do not desire the country to be splitted up. It is the american leadership and their western allies that are support a transition ruling council and be giving them legitimacy. The crisis has not be solve and ordinary libyan are sufferings because of the massive destruction of their country

Actually, people talk about secession all the time. The Governor of Texas has talked about Texas leaving the country, there's an actual movement for the southern half of California to become its own state. No suppression there. Democracy in America? Every four years, dozens of political parties put up dozens of candiates for President. Who competes with the Communist Party of China?

Thank you for your comment, and firstly, I have a question: Are you an American? Actually, I agree with most of your viewpoints but I don't understand why America didn't promote democracy within America? This reflected in what aspects? Thank you.

Many of us remember what happened in Tibet in the late 50's when China forced its ways on the people of Tibet. The result was between 200,000 and 1,000,000 people were killed and thousands of religious buildings destroyed all in an effort to for the people to submit to Chinese rule. The Dalai Lama represents freedom for the people of Tibet. For the people to decide who they want to live and beleive in not something that is imposed on them. By meeting with the Dalai Lama the President is showing the people of Tibet that we support their effort to live free.

Peaceful Liberation of Tibet... lol I mean really wow. But on to the president meeting with the Dalai Lama I think pretty much every President Meets with the Dalai Lama. I mean if China doesn't like it tough. The only reason that the United States hasn't had a more open opposition to the Aggression is really just two simple reasons we trade and manufacture a lot of things in China and that a war would be costly to us. So much so that we won't do it. If the United States was to do a liberation of Tibet it knows that it would have to take over China completely and couldn't just stop at Tibet. China knows this to that if it came to it the biggest thing that is saving them is that the United States doesn't see it as being to our best interest is to accept their occupation of Tibet. I mean they don't like us being friends with Taiwan and seeing Taiwan as a separate nation. But China won't risk invading as their are US forces their that would get involved that would send us to war with each other.
