Hey myLotters! I know we all love eating but we can't help thinking that at some point we should be on a diet. We all have different body types and sizes, so we all have different diet styles too. In my case, I try to lessen rice (because we Filipinos eat rice everyday), but somehow I can't stop eating rice! :p I also try to exercise once in a while but I end up eating MORE, thus resulting in gaining more weight. I wanna know how you guys lose or maintain weight and be physically fit. I don't have a body of a supermodel, and I don't intend to have one, but I still want to have that healthy and fit body type so I can wear the clothes I want to wear. Any tips and suggestions on how you went on a diet and actually worked? Please share your tried and tested diet methods. :)

What you say is true. And different body types needs different regimens that fits your needs to lose weight. I myself eat and I love to eat. But even if I do eat a lot even the bad fats and all those foods that needs to be avoided, I am just glad that I have a very fast metabolism that I don't get fat. After I had borne my first child I had regained my former weight like I never even got pregnant. I don't even have stretch marks that some people can't believe that I already have a child. However, I always make sure I also put on diets that burn those fats. But I also have learned that even the best diet plans cannot beat a regular exercise. I have posted today on weight loss entitled, "To burn fat, we must eat fat." Check it out. It is really easy. Just remember that our bodies best enemies is sugar.

There are healthy fats that you can eat like in avocado, raw nuts, fish, and some oils like olive oil and canola oil, they have the omega fatty acids that's important for brain health, and the healthy fats that the body needs to function. You should stay away from saturated fats, trans fat, and hydrogenated products, they're the bad fats. Refined sugars and white flours will turn into the bad fat as well.

To burn fat, we must eat fat? Wow, I never thought of that! And about the sugar being our body's enemies, oh no. I just love sugar and sweets. I can't get enough of chocolates and ice creams. I'm doomed. Haha!

Hi pinkpiglet, Don't worry about weight, the stress will also increase your weight. I joined yoga 3 months back, and avoided curd at night for 1 month and had very light dinners(rice+curries), I reduced my weight. This worked for me. Good day.

I think I gained weight because of stress! Haha! Because when I'm stressed I eat a lot to try to forget about the stress. I really should get rid of the stress I have before going into a healthy diet. :)

Hi pinkpiglet, That's the spirit. Hope and wish you all the best for your fit and good health. The worst thing that is ruling this planet is stress. Let us fight against it by being happy and healthy. Good luck.

diet wont work if you eat tons of rice. eat fruits or salad before your meals so you wouldn't load up with as much carbo as you do now. to get fit, you should do some exercise. the most effective and easiest would be walking

I think diet won't really work for me, because I love rice! I eat rice everyday, and I can't imagine not having rice on a daily basis. I should really walk more too. I'm always stuck at home sitting in front of a computer. Yes, I'm unhealthy. Haha!

I joined weight watchers about 18 months ago, and did great on it before going back to uni and eating junk food This summer, I've rejoined but I'm not enjoying the new plan. The Discover plan (the old plan) gave me about 19 points per day, which I didn't find too hard to stick to: Breakfast - 1 bowl of special k, small amount of milk (I hate soggy cereal!) Breakfast total: 3 points Lunch - Ham salad sandwich (3 points), Pack of Walkers baked (1.5 points) Crunchie (3.5 points) Lunch total: 8 points Dinner - Vegetable curry made using tomatoes, stock and virtually any vegetables (0), with rice 60g (3 points) or a medium jacket potato and margarine (3 points) Dinner total: 3 points Total for the day: 14 points - leaving 5 for snacks. In terms of snacks I would have things like sugar free jelly (0) A mullerlight (1.5) 2 satsumas (0.5), an apple (0.5) etc etc. The BEST thing about the discover plan was that if you didn't eat all your points, you could "save" them, for something like a meal out, going on a night out, or just not use them and put them towards weight loss. In comparison on the new propoints (or points plus in some places plan) I get 29 daily points plus 49 weekly points, but all the food values have changed too... Now I typically eat: Breakfast - Special k, small amount of milk (4) Breakfast total: 4 points Lunch - Lots of vegetables and tomatoes (0) with pasta (6), (a ham salad sandwich is also about 6), a mini time out (2) and a pack of sunbites (3) Lunch total: 11 points Dinner - Something like chilli made with quorn mince, and a jacket potato (12 points) Dinner total: 12 points Total for the day: 27/29 - leaving me 2 points for snacks. Alternatively, I could use some of my 49 weekly points, but there's no consistency to answers about whether you should eat all/some/none of these. Instead, I'd have fruit, fruit and more fruit for my snacks since this is now free. These two weight watchers plans are the only diets I've tried and can give you insight on I'm afraid. I will say though, I highly recommend the discover plan - the books etc are going for pennies on ebay, and I lost a stone and a half last summer (in about 3 months), without being starving all the time. I've been following the new pro-points plan since early June, and so far...weigh 1lb MORE than when I started...I think I'll be swapping back to discover!! Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Before anything else, what is the "weight watchers"? Thank you for responding with details. I really appreciate it. I will see if I can keep up with your diet plan.

I've tried diets and none of them never worked. I even was forced to go on a diet that I didn't wanna do because my mom made me, but I was still miserable and by the beginning of May, I was back to eating what I did before. My mom stopped keeping track of what I ate and everyone was happy again! :) It's just best to eat in moderation.

I've tried diets too and it worked just a little bit because it didn't last long. I just couldn't stop eating. :) You're right that it's best to eat in moderation, but the problem with me is I tend to overeat. :)

Hi Pinkpiglet, you know its a matter of self-discipline in reducing or losing weight. If you really like to lose weight or to diet make sure that you can do it. In any way or any how. Anyway, I suggest that if you want to reduce eating rice, first before you eat your meal drink water. why? because when you drink water before eating it makes you feel full. So it means, you cannot eat more.

I wish I could have more self-discipline! Haha! I can't control my love for eating sometimes. And I also lack in drinking water. :(

Growing up I used to hate the word "diet" because I felt trapped and I didn't have a choice. My parent's used to say I should have a flat stomach and be "as skinny as a rail". You know what, I never was, and am not not now. I honestly care anyway about what I look like. And, if people can't accept me for who I am.... then tough luck. And, you should not feel preasured to change who you are either. If you feel good, there is no reason to stop what you're doing. Rice, believe it or not is good for you. And, you actually should include it in at least one to two meals a day. So never feel guilty about what you eat. The key to knowing what diet to be on, is to experment with various foods and portions. Eat what makes you feel good... avoid foods that you don't. If you feel you're eating too much of something cut back, and if you think you should have more of something.... then go for it. And, stay as active as possible. If you remain active.... it doesn't matter what you eat because you're body will be able to burn off what it doesn't need a little more effectivly.

I actually didn't like the word "diet" too. Because I'm the kind of person who just LOVES to eat. Although I'm not obese, and my body type/size is just average. But still, sometimes I overeat, and makes me want to think I have to go on a diet. Haha!

Boosting the metabolism works. You eat something small but healthy evehry two or two and a half hours. Make sure to exercise a half an hour every day. And it never fails to work. Keep it up and the weight will not come back. Most of the problem with the above is for people who work outside the home or are in school and can not schedule their eating this way.
