A day to breath and take a step back from myLot

I think we all agree that myLot is a great website that we can have a great time for, make all kinds of friends, talk to people. However much like everything else, it does tend to get a bit repetitive time after time, day after day. Then again the same thing could be said for any website that we spend time on. I think that its a good idea that at least one day a week we step back and take a break from myLot. Especially if you are feeling frustrated with not finding enough quality topics. The problem might just be burn out and its no use in forcing the issue in something that should be fun. Everything seems so much fresher after a day off. I try to take at least one day a week where I'm nowhere near myLot and I think I'm much better for it. There's no shame in recharging the batteries.

I agree with you as we are not robots and do need to take a break from time to time. I do enjoy coming here daily but after a while I do need a couple hours away. I find this helps keep and maintain my quality participation's. There are times that I have been here too long and find that I can't really put in my thoughts as I like, therefore, I realize it is time to log off. I will be taking a nice break next week as I will be going on vacation. I may be able to log in for a tiny bit but I think the away time will certainly be good, as then when I come back I will have yet more refreshed ideas.

Eventually our minds are going to be taxed to the absolute limits. We are humans with a lot of limitations. Some of our limitations are really more often than others. Eventually we are going to start breaking down and its going to be worse when we try to force it. There is nothing more frustrating than a battle of wills against our own mind. Enjoy your vacation, hopefully the time away will do you well. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

hi megamatt I am so glad you did not say bored. I can never fathom why anyone would be bored here as theres a huge choice of discussions to chose from. I think anything repetitive even a job you love can make you feel burned out so to take a few hours or a day off just do not complain then you cannot reach payoff and mylots a scam blah blah blah. I unfortunately was forced to take 35 days off so was so behind on everything. my friends discussions and my own discussions that needed comments on.While I was in the rehab hospital I cheered myself up by imagining what topics I could just make great discussons on.okay when I got back I was in my room two whole days and wham my roomie comes out of er with shingles. she is contagious. I must be moved and oh no we will not move your computer and monitor oh not a television yes. okay so another 13 days without computer use. I could not even get to a shop where they had computers to use as I was still all banged up from my fall. So I was really all gung ho to go when I finally got back to mylot and my computer and monitor. lol

Life tends to happen a lot of the times. There is just a series of unfortunate events that might even happen. It may feel like boredom to people but I didn't use that term, because I rather disagree. The same things all day, every day, in the same way, that is going to get slightly tiring after a while. I think that a steady and productive person will be able to take at least one day off a week and be alright. In fact, better six days at full speed, then seven days struggling because you have burned yourself out too much. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

hi megamatt! i agree with what you mentioned here. no matter how much we like mylot and no matter how much we enjoy ourselves starting discussions and responding to others, there will come a time that we will need to take a break from it all. i usually do my mylotting at the office so when i'm on my days-off i refrain from doing mylot. i practice the same thing for computers basically and staying on-line. on my days-off i stay away from computers and i refrain from going on-line. so far i have succeeded a bit as i've only checked my office emails on my days-off and then i reply to the more important ones. i stay online for about an hour the max and then i just shut it all off and spend time doing something else. i agree that a breather is indeed good for everyone.

hi megamatt! you really put it in perspective with what you wrote there. i would say that i'm one of those in the first bucket, those who are always trying to participate extensively whenever i can. i try to start as many discussions and post as many replies as i can whenever i'm online. its not just chasing the payout but really more so trying to be involved in as many meaningful discussions as i can here in mylot. cheers!!!

It tends to really boil down to a system where you feel comfortable with, where it causes you the least amount of stress and allows you to get the most enjoyment possible. For some people, its extensive participation. For others, it is rather moderate and for others it is slightly less. Sometimes if you feel a bit burned out, its time to ease up, but some people are the last people who really tend to acknowledge their own burnout. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

Me too feel the same as yours. I will choose one day to have a break and do something else. I can get bored very fast and by doing the same thing , need to see and deal with the same topics over again I really need some break otherwise I will not find that as interesting anymore. To avoid such thing happen I will not feel guilty to take a rest for a day. Do it naturally by not forcing ourselves is the best way to stay here.(^^)

Anything in life, not just on a website such as myLot, is bound to get rather old hat after a while. Taking a deep breath and taking a rest for an entire period of the day, that is really something that really can just recharge us. Then we are able to return with a vengeance. That way we can bring the optimal quality of posting that this great website might expect. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

Yeah, it is not just for mylot, it applies to everything. Most of the things I did, if I don't give some time for myself to breath and take time I will easily get bored and leave it. So to stay with them I need to vary the way I deal with it and taking rest is one of it to get the boredom away.(^^)

Ah... the heart of my very problem. I agree with you that like in every activity, we need to get out of mylot from time to time. Part of it is for health reasons and part of it will be becuase mylot (in my opinion) will lose its appeal if I keep sitting here hour by hour. Like everybody else, I love mylot since it offers different things everyday. so much like has a different mood for each, however like work, mylotting can evolved into something boring, predictable and unchanging. That's what I am afraid of. For a person like me, I have a day-off where I shut down my computer and bring myself back to reality. I do the usual chores, the usual spur-of-the-moment activity. after that refreshing interlude, i go back mylotting to share my insights, observations and everything else. Funny, I learn from this site as much as I learn something outside of it.

That is really one of our worst fears. Something that is so fun evolves into something that is rather like work. That really does take a lot out of the situation and leads us down a ugly path. There are times where we really do need an escape back to reality from our escape from reality. A lot of times, a little bit of time, to gain some fresh air, not thinking about the website, that can allow us to return and be able to participate at a higher level. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

I agree with you. I notice that after a few hours here in myLot, there are days that I just can't stand to read the discussions, specially when I don't find anything interesting. I think that, since I signed up on myLot, I didn't spend one day without login in myLot just to spend a few minutes. But, I guess that, with my classes coming back next week, I will not have much more time to spend here in myLot and I will take your suggestion and take at least one day of the week to rest.

I think are greatest enemy to myLot participation really does tend to be real life interjecting a lot of time. A lot of the time there are really times where real life does not really allow me to get on as much as liked to. And then the worst thing to catch is "not having the motivation when you have the time and not having the time when you have the motivation." Rarely happens to me but it is annoying. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

Sounds like a good idea. I do take a break away from myLot some times. Normally, I get online to myLot in the evenings after I get back home from work, and spend about two hours. But, some evenings, I shorten that to about twenty minutes, just to have a break.

Some days we just are not going to feel it a lot of the time. That is rather fine, we're going to need to switch things up more often than not. To really gain perspective of a lot of things that we have in life. To really allow us peace of mind and a lot of thought. To really allow us to enjoy this website. So sometimes shortening things up or even taken a day away, will allow us to return with a bit more fire. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

I might agree with you, since you have your reason, and you have your own lifestyle to live in. I won't mind to spend some time in mylot on a daily basis, since I need that money desperately. I can't afford to not logging in here and being lazy to indulge myself. Whenever I found some spare time, I will definitely come in here to post one or two lines and share my thought and idea to other people who I don't know. It is a bit fun and motivated since there is money involved.

People really have their own reasons for how much time that they spend on this great website and hey I respect that much. While I'm not technically completely hanging my hat on myLot for a living, I do think that the money I do earn from this website is a welcome little bonus to say the very least. If I have learned anything, every little bit helps. However, there are times where I tend to feel like I'm going around in circles and are struggling to get this done. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

I agree. Sometimes I feel like reading what other people say then other days I am being called outside to enjoy while its nice weather out. Its ok to take a break and even get a mental recharge so when you come back sometimes discussions seem fresh and you are able to reply much better. I don't feel horrible when I miss a day. After all we are here on this earth such a short time to just sit at the computer and not enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Have fun in whatever you are doing while taking a break!

Yeah I tend to step outside when I can. The weather has been kind of weird as of late, really hot and then really rainy. So when I have a nice brisk day, you kind of got to grab that chance. If nothing else, a nice walk around outdoors gives your mind time to cool down and it can be rather refreshing in many ways. There does come a great time to recharge and that would be it. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

Yes, sometimes there are no good topics to respond too. That's the time when i start some topics i would like to discuss. When i see the responses, i feel happy but eventually would be overwhelmed by the responses if they are a plenty already.

That tends to be a bit of an issue from time to time. Responses are rather great and believe me, its rather appreciated when I get them no matter how many. Still there are times where I go to sleep with a topic with few responses and wake up with a lot of responses. It is very wonderful to say the very least don't get me wrong. It just can overwhelm after a while. Of course when that happens, it might be one of the many signs that its time for a break. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

There will be times that we need to take a break from everything.. Sometimes we are so lazy to do anything. Yes, we need a time or day off to evrything

Its just a matter of recharging. I think that especially if we work hard, some kind of day to put aside and be lazy, for most things, that is really something that is healthy. For the sake of our own sanity at the very least. There are just a lot of times where we really tend to do a little more than we should but there comes many other times where it is time to take a nice cold breath. Everything does get a bit repetitive after doing it day in and day out for so long. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.
