I was planning to update my resume today. But I don't how to include my first work together with its action/duties/responsibilities I must say. I also like to include my Special Awards for that company. But how? Its my first time to update my resume including this details. Is there anyone who can help me out?
PS: SimplyD, if you read this. I need your expertise.

There's a part in the resume where you put your Work Experience. Start from your current work until your first work. List them all, enumerate them. State your position, the name of the company and your inclusive dates of work. Below that you can list your duties and responsibilities and all other things you want to include.
Good luck!

Hi syoti! I wonder, is SimplyD good in making resumes?
Hmm.. maybe I can get some tips from her, as well. hihihihi
Anyway, I assume you already have your previous resume since you said you just want to update it, correct? So, just add in there what you've done so far that are not yet in your present resume. Did you attend or conduct any special training? Put it in. Take away your primary and secondary school history; that may be irrelevant now. As for your Special Awards, what kind of awards are we talking about? Umm...if it's related to your work, then add those in your Achievements which may be put in the last part of your resume.

I have a very old resume that needs updating. It’s not that hard it is a matter of listing dates job, duties as you know although putting it all together may seem a little daunting. I found this site a while back that may help; it is called ‘How to Write a Resume.Org
http://www.how-to-write-a-resume.org/
(Not a referral link)
Hope it helps.

Well, it seems you have slip of a mind. What do you mean do not know how? Say if you were a teacher, you would write the time that is, year from what year or month you started to what year and month you finished. The you have to just describe what you did, program lessons, taught students, test them , marked their assessemnts and report them and record in the record. I just do not understand how you forget what you did. May this helps.

Wow, it's actually been a while since I have actually updated my resume. Luckily I have been employed with the same department for more than 10 years, so I haven't really had to update it.
I wish I could be of more help, but I honestly don't know exactly how you could add all those details. Unless you can add it as a reference to the particular job and/or special awards.
I wish you luck and hope you find the right and correct answer to your question.

I am in the same situation. I have to update my resume because I am going to be looking for a job next year. I have to get a job or have a job the minute that I graduate from college so that I can pay back my student loans. To me, it is always a smart idea to update your resume. Also, to those of you who aren't aware of this, yes, volunteer work, any kind of volunteer work counts as working. You might not be getting paid for it, but counts as experience and that is what employers want to see. Oh, and you want to market yourself and look presentable, not perfect, just presentable, most employers don't want to hire perfection because they know that that person will get bored with their job and that there might not be any room for that person to grow. You want to be a go-getter and someone who is willing to learn. Do what it takes to get a job in these hard economic times.

You should read carefully the requests of the company you'll apply. Then, you'll know what you should write on your resume.
Wish you success!
