My family enjoys to cook and loves to eat. And I do inherent the same traits. One of my cousin also loves to experiment on ways to cook new food and he told me that he cook his Adobo with lime based sodas like Sprite or 7up without the traditional vinegar and soy sauce ingredient. I was amazed and tried it, so what I did was to re-invent again the said ingredients. I had this one: 4 cloves of garlic 1 medium red onion 4 Bay leaf salt and pepper 1 kilo pork [adobo cut] 4 tbsp vinegar 3 tbsp soy sauce 285 ml Sprite or 7up 3 Chili or Siling Labuyo To give you a description of taste, well it is sweet, something like that and I really like it and my relatives do loves it too.

as long as u have a based of acidic/sour (e.g. vinegar) plus salty (e.g. Toyo, patis, etc.) combined and cook it with whatever meat you have ...you'll have a variation of adobo

actually its a typical barbeque marinade of pinoy same ingredients of adobo the only difference it the soda(7up or Sprite). if u let your ingredients combine and stand for awhile to marinade before cooking, it will soften the meat coz the soda acts as tenderizer.

You're right, it is also an ingredient for marinade. My cousin usually cook his adobo using just only soda, no soy sauce or vinegar added but I haven't done that yet so what I did was to mix the original recipe of adobo and added a soda just to have a hint of what will be the taste of adobo with soda. =)

Try it, what I did was to cook it just like an ordinary adobo then let it simmer at the end just pour the soda slowly, and adjust how sweet you want it to be.
