Do You Need Somebody to Scare that Mean Debt Monster Out from Under Your Bed?

I see your boogey man, the imaginary ghost you call 'Debt.' You remember when you were little and there were monsters under your bed? how--even though your parents laughingly assured you that there were NO monsters under your bed--you still KNEW they were under there? how you couldn't consciously relax until your parents 'scared the monsters away' (a la Doctor Who, no?)? Well when you grew up, your under-bed monster grew up too and moved out, taking the name 'Debt' (possibly by the birth of its cousin 'Credit' ) So apparently I'm a grown-up, because I know that such monsters (even the good ones) only exist in you little-kids' minds. Why can't I get you people (I'm looking especially at the Christians, who--I thought--were supposed to have DEFEATED the credits-&-debits of this world) to quit whining about 'debt' (with U.S. President Obama et al. causing 'panic' over the "debt-ceiling") and -to go back to 'comfortably numb'?

No, I am just a servant. I would HOPE to be 'a servant of Jehovah God,' but--if He doesn't use me and -if His enemy picks me up and FINDS a use for me--I can naught but serve. This is something else that makes me angry about Christianity. I mean 'popular Christianity,' not pure discipleship-of-Christ---Christianity worships the cross ... I know they 'consciously understand' it to symbolize Christ's perfect discipleship, but God does not pay so much attention to our 'conscious understanding.' He wants us to love Him FROM THE HEART (i.e. from our SUBCONSCIOUS selves ... you don't have to THINK to keep your heart beating, do you?)

Someone has to take notice about the crisis today. You do know that the sick and disabled are probably not getting their monthly check this coming Aug right? I say they have lots to be concerned over as the debt crisis in this country is quite a serious matter. If they do not get that check, how will they pay rent and or pay for medications they routinely do each month? Staying quiet will not help and or make them feel any better. Although some yes can make excuses for their own debts the country is in big trouble. They maybe able to place a band-aid this year but I am reluctant to believe that things will march well their after.

What "solution"? 'Do something?' I've been 'doing something' for YEARS now, and ... grrrrrr But you are right that someone has to 'do something' now rather than -later. What they have to do is 'wave-away these smoky vapors they call "debt"' ... Who decides that 'we owe anybody anything'? "Debt" seems to be a person-to-person arrangement, not a 'people-to-people' or 'nation-to-people' or 'nation-to-nation' arrangement. So how much of the 'debt' do YOU owe to whom else? My mother still living, I don't owe anything to anyone (she just told me to "Be Good," and--as long as I do that--I'm taken care of, right? Your leader owes me everything I feel like using, yes?)

Personally like others have stated here, someone has got to take notice over their debts, and even though there are Christians out there like me who believe in God, and pray daily I also continuously have bills that are always left unpaid, and just seemingly can become overwhelming. I have learned that overall there is nothing more I cannot do than to Talk with the creditors at hand and deal with things from there the Best I can. It may not always be easy but when I learn to Trust in God in time everything will be OK.

God hates money. I could 'back-bite' on that and say "God hates that we so-prize money that we turn-away from Him in order to gain more money," but that is an understanding that requires consciousness. I.e. it's not a simple gut-reaction. Money is a dirty diaper. It's like 'God hates sin.' In fact, God hates money even worse than sin, because money is Satan Disguised as an Angel. It is the green idol we spend our lives in service-to. In fact, Jesus Christ okay-ed it with His "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's." Money is 'the cross we "-billies" bear up to the "hill-" , the cross upon which we crucify ourselves for Our Father's love of the world.'

That is a nasty monster. Debt has teeth like a shark. Credit is like one of those fish that feed off the shark...I can't remember what they are but they stick on there...or maybe it's the other way around. I hate the thought of anything being under my bed. I guess some things never change while others are forced to do so. Maybe comfortably numb wasn't supposed to be in the picture for so long. Who knows?

No one knows. That's the secret truth of all religions; they all THINK they're all blind except for the leader they follow, but the truth is that the leader is a) just as blind as all the followers, but b) a little surer of himself anyway. 'Debt' is the dark half of the yun-yin circle.

So let's start here: What do most debt-monsters want? Our money? Yes, but not quite. See, "money" comes from the Greek monet, a title of the goddess Juno. The title gave her 'the power of gaining-ownership' (or more-literally 'the power to buy'). Maybe the debt-monster wants you to use your 'power to buy' more-sparingly.

They are only animals, like dogs sniffing out a bone (or whatever it is dogs hunt nowadays). What are the debt-monsters sniffing out? And where will they find it? That's the only way to stay safe from the monsters: find out what they're dogging you for and lead them to 'somewhere else' where that is in abundance!

I think you are trying to say that debt is not a "thing" in the physical sense. And you are right. However, that doesn't mean it doesn't matter. Debt comes down to reputations. If you borrow and don't return, you are a thief. If you take and never give back, you are selfish. Thieves and the selfish don't keep their friends for long, and "no man is an island" which means that it is a good idea to care about your debts, and repay them.

'My debts' are just 'monsters someone else invented to scare me into working harder.' And that's the truth of all who 'have to work for money,' they'll work harder if they're getting paid for the work.

Even in the bible debt and credit never say defeated instead minimize and control through our wise and control way. Debt and credit are two things other are scare off but we must face it off because it is our mistake to have that. As soon as we are wise and know how to spend not more than you getting, we can minimized or avoid debt or credit. So good financial planning and self discipline of spending.

That's one good thing about the 'debt crisis'; if we 'jam up against the debt-ceiling' (or whatever metaphor they use for 'owing so much that we can't borrow anymore'), we will have to 'go back to using-only-what-we-have' (I've had to do it for several years, and no nation is better than me! How DARE they use 'credit'?) My cousin-in-law works with the 'state budget-setting people,' and even THEY use 'state annual revenue' to gauge their spending (rather than 'spending whatever it costs to get the job done,' as military-spending seems to require.) If the federal government did that, stuff would improve.
