Small soda caps: Like them or not?

Personally, I hate them. It all started a few years ago with coke. They started using these caps on their plastic bottles that were smaller in height than the regular caps. I don't really know why. Maybe it was an attempt to make them look retro and more like the caps on the old glass bottles. They first started using them on just coke first, then started using them on all their drink products. Then, other soda companys started using them on their products as well. I really hate these things. Their harder to twist on and off. I really hope their just a short-term fad. I call them "New Cap", after "New Coke", which was such a disaster.

They are harder to screw on but my take on it is that they changed the caps in order to decrease how much plastic they use. In a way they are actually being environmentally friendly by making smaller lids we are in theory throwing away less materials in the form of caps and are able to recycle the bottle itself. It is an inconvenience but hopefully you can feel good about being a little more environmental. =)

I don't have a problem with my coke bottle lids. I do have a problem with this one bottled water lid! It's so tiny! It says on the packaging their trying to reduce consumer plastic waste so the cap is smaller and the bottle is thin and not firm. I can't twist the lid off and I can't grip the bottle to try and help get the lid off. The bottle squished inward and then when I finally start twisting cap loose I end up getting water all over myself! It ticks me off so much! In fact I stopped buying the bottled water and just fill up my reusable water bottle now! If this incident ever happened with coke (I love coke!) I would probably call them or write an angry letter/email!!!
