After making another Detective Conan Live Action Special, they decided to make the manga a live action series which stars Mizobata Junpei as Kudo Shinichi and Shiori Kutsuna as Mori Ran. I'm happy with the new live action spiels but personally, I am not satisfied with how the characters are portrayed. I just think they differ a lot. Well, at least based on the anime, because I have not read the manga. I particularly don't like how Ran's character is portrayed. In the latest anniversary special, the anime Ran might have acted like that but in the live action series.. why the heck is Ran so concerned with her nails??? Ran was never like that. And she shouldn't have a cellphone! Ran never had a cellphone before Shinichi turned into a kid. She only had a cellphone when Conan gave her one during her birthday. And they might have decided to change that to adjust to the current time but I don't think Ran would be so worried about her cellphone's signal when they are in a cell and handcuffed. And Shinichi wouldn't have been so hotheaded in talking back to Ran even if they are in a pinch. They already ruined Kiseki Eri's character in the special, why do they have to ruin the major characters?? .

I have watched the special but I haven't watched enough of the anime (but I did watched some and did enjoy it) to notice the difference. You are really knowledgeable about anime and j-dorama secretbear. Anyway, I'm looking forward to watching more Detective Conan. Are there dvds of the anime available? Maybe I'll start out with those first.

HI swirlz! I'm only knowledgeable to those that I love. I'm sure there are dvds available of the anime. But I must warn you, there would be a lot of them! The anime has been running since the 90's and it's still going strong up to know. I think there are more than 700 episodes already. I was watching it in youtube and the last episode I watched was only in the 200's...

Yeah! I have lost track of this anime! There's just too many episodes! I also used to watch it back then but they always cut it and when they air it again, it feels like they did not start where they ended so I just stopped watching and decided to just watch it online. But sometimes, watching something continuously gets a little boring so I don't regularly watch it.

Really? Even you're not updated? I used to watched it when I was in gradeschool but it's not always on tv so when they're not airing it I'm not able to watch it. Back then we can't really search for this types of shows on the market.

Well, I think Oguri Shun's portrayal of Kudo Shinichi was okay in the past two live action specials. And the kid who portrayed Conan was okay, too although there weren't many scenes with him on it.
