Are England a better balanced team than India?

India is the number one Test playing nation in the world. England are a close second. In fact if England win the ongoing series by a two match margin, they will become the number one side in the world. In the batting department India is supreme, however if we take the English conditions into account, that advantage is certainly negated. In the bowling department, on paper the sides seem to be evenly balanced. However with Zaheer Khan most likely to be sitting on the bench injured and Harbhajan Singh who is turning out to be a better bowler than a batsman nowadays, England seem to hold the upper hand. What should I say about the fielding? As always India is the underdog in this department. So England seems to be the better team. I do not think that they can win by a two match margin though. But I feel that they can certainly win this series. What are your thoughts on the same?

To me both the sides are evenly balanced and its only because India were hit with injuries in the first test that they lost control of the game. They lost Zaheer, then Sachin was not keepin too well and also Gambhir was hit on the elbow. With three key players down its difficult to get a grip of the game.
England played well and also took advantage of a wounded India. The conditions are difficult to play in England but India is a side that has got experienced guys along with youth and definately are a balanced side. Its just that in the beginning of the tour many players are still getting used to the cold conditions and take sometime to adjust. So hopefully we see a better performance from India and all goes well for the rest of teh tour..

I agree. Both sides are certainly evenly balanced. But why take injured players on such a gruelling tour? Also remember that conditions in England are such that injuries heal very slowly. The best decision the selectors took was to rest an unfit Sehwag. But Zahher could have been rested too. Also Ashwin is bowling better than Bhajji. Why not take him instead?

First of England are third and South Africa is second in test ratings
well coming to the team India are better balanced if all players are fit but if India loose a couple of important players like they lost Zaheer(India's strike bowler) and Shewag (he doesn't allow bowlers to settle when he is there)they will loose their balance , while England can have better balance if couple their players get injured
