I think it has the same meaning as Think before you speak, doesn't it? We should be mindful of the consequences of our actions since once we send it out there, it's difficult to get it back.

I think "look before you leap" is more general than "think before you speak" and tends to apply to actions rather than words. In both cases it's wise to think first.

Figuratively speaking, the two idioms are the same Grap, wouldn't you think so? That's why I agree with you when you say, in both cases it's wise to think first. Good day to you!

Hi dear, In fact, this query is of my son, who is in the school. Even I was not aware he raised this question and you people are answered it also. When I inquired, he said that I was sure that dad's friends would come back with nice comments and I can learn and get a clear picture of the topic. However, you all are cooperated and responded nicely and I am thankful to you all and it is on behalf of my son as well. Best regards, Thank-s

It means don't follow blindly. Look before we walk into any traps, think before we act. Don't be too trusting in whatever people say or do because what works for others might not be suited for us. It's a simple logic that many of us refuses to think because we can't accept the fact that we are different from the majority that manages to do it.

Hi dear, Rightly worded. You all helped with your own views and real meaning of the phrase. If we can be in this way in our life also make more sensible and worth if we could follow the principle. Thank you so much for the response and have a nice day. Thank-s

Indeed, reading makes your day! I use to read pocket books too but now that I am busy I do not read a lot anymore. For the proverb "look before you leap" all I can say s that youi have to think twice before you do or say anything. Rushing might do you harm than good.

This proverb can be taken literally, you should look before you leap in a cliff or something like that.. I thin kit means that you should be more careful and think before you act.. Just don't be rash and understand a situation fully before going int it..

I think everybody has got the meaning of this saying about right. The things that tend to trip you up worst are things that aren't what they seem. The contract with misleading fine print, the people who appear to be in distress but are really trying to trap whoever helps them (there should a special place in hell for such people), the casual question where a joke answer can get you into trouble, the easy job that turns out to be difficult. I'm not sure what "look before you leap" has to do with reading. Did you read it in a book? Are you thinking about reading a grimoire?

I agree. Reading is a great way to gain knowledge about everything and anything. "Look before you leap," in my own interpretation speaks about being cautious about any decision that we need to undertake. Consider the pros and cons before deciding to do something. Weigh the risks involved so that in the end we will not regret.

In my opinion,"look before you leap" it means, observe or know the details first before jumping into conclusions. Same like never judge a person with first impression. have a good day always

It is like; you think before you speak out loud. Evaluate the consequences before you act. Is it worth it, that you want to do or have. Set up a good realistic plan before you take action.

This is a cliche proverbial saying that means be aware of the consequences and problems before you do something. For example, one should think about how they are going to pay for a mortgage and home owners insurance before they take the leap and buy a home. Or, to be more literal, one should see how high the cliff really is before jumping off. Otherwise that person will find themselves in a great deal of pain. I am not sure when and where this saying originated, but I do know it has been around for a long time.
