Anyone have a garden this year? I don't because we moved but my mom does. I go help her regularly because her green us so huge. She has watermelons, cantaloupes, corn, beans, a bunch of diffrent hot and sweet peppers, eggplant, squash, okra, strawberries, Tomatos, potatoes, cabbage and I'm probably leaving out some stuff. Anyways her corn ne'er does so good in between the wind knocking it over or the raccoons! Those little varmits keep stealing it! She's caught 2 of them already! Anybody got some ideas to keep those racoons or other harvest stealers away?

Hi cupcakes, wow, what a nice garden your mother has. I don't have a garden, however I did plant a few items and they ar doing good. I really don't know if this will help but it is worth a try. My brother planted a few things too, and he has problems with deers. He stringed a line of cans around his garden and said when the wind blow, the can make a noise and this keep the deers away. He also hung out some old shirts that has been worn by him and said that the human smell will run them away. I don't know if this works but he said it does.

The cans and shirts sound like a great idea! I'm going to call her later and tell her about it!

I am wondering if people who do have nice corn have some kind of special thing they do to it? My mom is an excellent Gardner but her corn never seems to do good. I told her maybe it was the soil?

Raccoons seem to be a real problem this year. Many of our chickens and ducks have came up missing and my husband thinks that the racoons are the problem. I really don't know how to keep them away, but they do make traps for them.
I don't really have a garden, but I did plant some tomato plants and they are doing well. I wish we would have done a garden but they are a lot of work.

Yes they are a ton of work! My mom has these traps and she trapped the 2 by putting a honeybun covered in molases in the cage! Those little sneaky critters couldn't resist!
