Loving red hair courtesy of Manic panic!

I yes my hair last month red using Manic Panic's pillarbox red. I am totally in love with it! Problem is after awhile it fades. I hear red is the hardest color to keep in your hair. Anybody got some tips on getting it to stay longer? If not tell me if you have red hair and what you product you use.

Use a color protecting shampoo and conditioner. Shampoo as little as possible. I've had a lot of problems in the past with hair dyes fading - especially Manic Panic - I used that a lot as a teenager with purple, pink, blue, green, turquoise hair (I was crazy back then lol). Now I just have plain jane brown hair - I don't take too many risks now. The main thing was showering and swimming that caused my hair to fade.

I love coloring my hair but my husband doesn't like it when I go for the crazy colors. One time I meant for it to be red and it came out hot pink! It was surprisingly beautiful! He's laid back so I don't think he likes all the attention bright colors draw. I think alot of the problem that faded my hair this time was the ocean water.
