I'm sure many American like myself have Been hearing and have some few words about the debt in America... Even those outside America I'm sure have a few words as well. If this is True well consider to be true. If no action is done and a decision isn't made by August 3rd of this year all social Security beneficiaries will be cut off and most likely won't receive there checks and all if not most of the government help will be taken away. Just to kill this terrible debt. In my opinion I think if this happens and no one does anything this country will go insane and it will be a indescribable vision of mess America will be because what about the older people that have the online Social security checks are there only sources of income and what about people that have no jobs and receive unemployment. And the people with food stamps .. And etc.????????? What will this country be like ? Have to give it thought yet you wonder because the decision isn't in some of the decision makers best interest... What has my Country turn into

It's hard to know what will really happen if they don't come to some kind of agreement. It's also hard to discuss this without getting political about it! Be that as it may, if they withhold SS and SSI payments, it will be out of spite, not because they don't have the money. If things are that tough, maybe our politicians could do without their checks? Government workers may do without a paycheck until the problem is solved, which I'm sure will be soon, if not before August 3, then shortly after. Whichever way we go right now is not going to be good for the economy.

I understand that and I can kind of understand why businesses won't hire older people, especially if they have to train them and provide health insurance. On the other hand, younger people often don't know how to work and are not committed to a job like an older person would be. It's a problem that we've always had and will always have in a free market. The SS checks are a different matter altogether. We've paid it; it's ours. If the government hadn't kept dipping into our money, it would still be there. The government has overspent without our consent and now we have to pay for it. What's wrong with this picture? It's time to take back the government.

Hey peavey, If this cut people off the elder peoe that retired many years ago and have only there SS checks as the only income thatsjust wrong and the peoe that are working hard and trying to find a job can't find one because of age and etc. My father is goingto be 61 years old and all I have to say is that they won't hire him because of his age. Sad to say.. But true.

It would be terrible if that were to happen. Alot of people would be out of a lot of help they needed and i imagine quite a few of our mylot friends would be scurrying to do anything to get by. Lets hope those politiciana figure out a better way to pay the debt then potentially killing many

I had a friend who had unemployment, and they gave her two weeks notice to it being cut off, that's not enough for her to figure out what she can and can't do. She's luckily going back to school with the help of her parents, but she's a single mother and struggling a lot because of unemployment being cut off.

Correct me if I am wrong I'm sure applying for unemployment many years ago was less stressful and easier and I'm sure they approved people easier as well . Now and days they give you little money and there are always sendng letters saying you got 45 days.. Believe me I work a bank and get a lot flavor checks and some aren't very big at all

i am in Canada and of course, the US's debt issues are big news because we directly related. the debt issue that the government is suffering through probably mirrors a good majority of households in the US.

I really need to start reading up on how this stuff works. I feel stupid not knowing what this really means. I know it is bad but I don't understand why it is bad. This kind of thing really should be taught in school instead of some of the stuff they feel is important.

Hey blue goblin , basically the congress has to make a decision on how to fix the USA debt which is in the trillons and if a decision isn't made by Aug 3rd, 2011 they will cut off many people. From government help like employment checks food stamps and medcade and medcare and social security checks which many older people live off of because thatsthe hard money they work for. In the years of most of there lives... Cutting all these people off will just make a big big big big big big MESS

Canada is USA's closest ally, and we're probably going to be affected by trades and whatever business Canada/USA has, like the oil and lumber, and retail merchandising...but other than that, I'm not sure how it's going to affect us Canadians. Our loonie's high, $1.06 against the USDollar - which sucks for me since I do online marketing, and everything I do us in USD in both PayPal and AlertPay. I'm thinking that the USD will probably grow weaker if the US Gov't shuts down or something.

Hello Payout! I haven't seen you hear in a while. Hope everythings going well in your busy life. I find it very unfortunate that the rich folks in congress can't come to an agreement that would benefit everyone. The poor folks in true society have to suffer through this whole ordeal. I'm sure people are sitting in front of their tv watching this mess unfold before their very eyes. Wondering if they will receive their SS next month for food and bills. This countries debt has been huge as long as I can remember. I really don't think this stallmate in congress is going to solve anything. It's just going to anger society as you said. I hope we can keep it together. If not a lot of innocent people will get hurt. Best Wishes!

Hey saws lace, Yeah I have been very busy but with all this mess going on.. I had to see and hear my my lot friends opinions about it because to me everyone is going to get hit by this Mess in the end. We all just need to have faith. And pray and hope for the best because i kno many good people that if they are cut off they will have no where togaed live. I agree with you I think in huts end they will just make a simple decisiion that won't solve nothing but make ushaveto deal with it at a later time and it will repeat it's self. Before you know it the USD will have very little value aright now the USD is losing it's value compare to other countries especiallythe common ones... May God help us all

I don't think you steering one bit I said the same thing as well with haiti and ore coutnries having there'd problems nice of us to help them and all well the people that wanted to.. But. Have our own worries... See the government needs to repeat this saying and the saying that has been said or many years now.. You can't help anyone if you can't help yourself. And we need to take that in consideration and can't help anyone right now maybe later but right now helping anyone that means large amounts of money spent say no. That's money lost and won't be given back.. And money borrowed has to be given back and we try at and now we owe them as well making our USD going to be nothing

Unfortunately, the USD is decreasing daily. Not to sound cold hearted, but I think we need to stop spending money in other countries to help them prosper and start worrying about our own country. Forking out money for a war that we really will never win is costing us millions. Why are they avoiding the obvious and trying to change something that will take forever to come to an agreement on. You know as well as I do, the Reps & Dems will never come to a mutual agreement. They both think they are right in all actuality they are just avoiding the unavoidable. At least I believe it unavoidable at this point. Best Wishes

I know this will not endear me to many people here, but as most know,I generally hate the governments of both Canada and the U.S.,as they are nothing more than great thieves and idiots. But in this case,I must point out, that the money problems both Countries have, was caused by the people themselves. First off are the credit cards just about everyone swears by,including the governments, the banks make billions on this alone. Then come the bleeding hearts that demand, the governments and practically everyone else to keep sending money over to the have not countries on a daily basis. To keep prices high,we destroy all kinds of foodstuff grown and produced in our two countries, send this food to them and train the people that come to our countries to grow it in their country and send them back with this knowledge. The people put us into this trouble, the people are the only ones that are able to get us out of it. The Governments are just to stupid to be able to find a proper way. Sorry for my tirade, but this is how I see it. Mac

For me yes it is the case because the bible said that if the Armageddon hit in this world the lack of food is became many crisis would never been vain for that time.

That certainly will be a terrible news for all of us to hear. We also afraid that we won't have enough money for our retirement, and how we gonna live on when we got old. That is one of the biggest concern we have for our future. I heard about the government has to get the debt limit, the best solution will be do not borrow for our spending, because we can't live like that. Also, what the medicaid problem. People getting old and they have to see doctors. How will it going to work out?
