Thoughts on Haruki Murakami's line

I'm a huge fan of Haruki Murakami. I read "After Dark" and one of my favorite lines from this book is this:
"People's memories are maybe fuel they burn to stay alive. Whether those memories have any actual importance or not, it doesn't matter as far as the maintenance of life is concerned. They are all just fuels. Advertising filler in the newspaper, philosophy books, dirty pictures in a magazine, a bundle of ten thousand yen bills; when you feed them to fire, they are just paper. The fire isn't thinking "Oh, this is Kant" or "Oh, this is the Yomuri evening edition" or "Nice t*ts!" while it burns. To the fire, they are nothing but scraps of paper. It is the exact same thing. Important memories, not so important memories, totally useless memories: There is no distinction - they are all just fuels."
I find this completely true. Memories are just fuel and it's up to you on how to use those fuels in your life :) Just sharing since I though this is a wonderful quote :D

I am crazy about this Japanese writer. I read almost everything appeared translated into Romanian. Books such as, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle or Kafka on the beach, was a treat for me, books that I could not put it down. Considered by many a writer easy trade, which is read immediately. Others considered a genius of modern literature, a writer who broke the literature patterns of the Rising Sun Country. Eternal Nobel candidate as it was called, a writer who stirs up controversy. This is Haruki Murakami.

I so wanna cry after I saw your post! I was planning to forget that I made this discussion but you replied. Thanks a lot! You are so right! Murakami writes in a manner which everyone can relate and easily understand but at the same time, it challenges the readers (just like his work "Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman).
