There were many people driving a truck around, and do a door - to - door solicitation. Some even brought a book of photos to show how well their jobs done on home improvement, like roof repair, sidings, etc...... Those solicitors knock on your door, and ask lower than the market price for the job done. I had encountered several of them, and let them leave their business cards with me, but I never call them. I heard news about some of them are really con artist. They will ask you to pay in advance for the deposit, or material purchases, once they got the money, they might not return. Others, they might done a poor job, and when you call them again, they will disappear. So, better watch out for those people. I can't tell you which one is legit and which is not. It is all up to us to take alert.

I just had one a couple of weeks ago. They said they were just finishing up a driveway and had extra asphalt and they noticed my paved driveway needs repair. I told him thanks, but this is not something in my budget for this year. He tried SO hard to convince me, and in the end I just said something to the effect of 'what part of no don't you understand?!' Funny thing is, is that it was just in our local small town newspaper about guys going around doing this same sort of scam. Even if I had found it affordable for this year, I wasn't going to trust somebody going door to door with 'extras.' Good reminder for the folks King!
