i watched a documentary on channel 4 last night called the amy winehouse story.. and it made me cry.
it was originally recorded and aired in 2008 about amy winehouse, when her private life had become public knowledge and had been thrown completely into turmoil. it was horrific to watch, and what frightened me the most, was the majority of this 2008/2009 footage showed amy at age 24.. the same age as me!
the documentary showed her shambolic onstage performances, and dishevelled appearance in public, but the most shocking tihng of all.. was a photograph of amy and her then husband blake felder-civil, leaving a london hotel, completely covered in blood and scores and scratches! it was horrific.
i'm a huge amy winehouse fan and from my own point of view i blame blake for everything that happened to her. she was a girl with ambition and drive who knew what she wanted from life, and moved to camden to persue her music career, and thats when she met blake. within months, she was drunk, drugged up, tattoo'd and off the rails before she'd even got her debut single "rehab" out.. it even went on to say in the documentary, when a girl was interviewed having worked with amy, that amy drank an abundance of vodka.. and when asked was vodka her favourite drink she said "no not my favourite, its my daytime drink. i never used to drink this much. i only really started drinking heavily when.. well when i met him [blake]" .. so i think its safe to say where the finger should be pointed.
the documentary then had some bits and pieces added on to the end to incorporate the latest tragedy in amy's life.. that off her death. it was heart breaking to watch and by the end of the show.. my eyes were brimming with tears.
if you get a chance to watch it, even on youtube for those of you not in th uk.. you should take it. it truely was an eye opener..
