You are a President of a country and you are in position for about a year. Your constituents are complaining that you have done nothing, will you reason that you just been in there for a year? Is that really that hard to lead a country that you can even make a considerable progress in year time?

That depends on the political system in place. If you're President and hold the final decision on all policies, it's easy to make changes: you stamp the papers and it's done. If you're President and have to handle a lot of politicians and bureaucrats, convince them and get them on board (but have a majority) it's harder but still possible. If you don't have a significant majority or total agreement throughout your political party on certain prospective changes, you're in for a really rough ride. Basically, the more complex the system - and the more mess left by the previous President - the harder it's going to be. In the case of first-world, complex democracies (like the US and most European countries), it's a total cow: it's almost impossible to make any real changes even in the WHOLE of the elected term. The main role of the President in such systems is to take the blame, not to actually achieve anything. He or she holds virtually no actual power - it's the party behind the President that holds it. Or the corporate donors behind them, if you want to be cynical about it.

Depending on the country's division of responsibility, it could be very hard to do ANYTHING in just one year. A Prime Minister in their form of government has alot more expectation to get something done than a President does in a US-type structure. In situations where the country has both (Russia for instance), the PM has the most responsibility and accountability. In the US system, the President likes to guide and direct legislative discussion, but it is solely upon Congress to get laws passed. Americans love to blame their President for everything, but very little of what happens during a President's tenure is directly their fault. When the Congress is under control of the President's party, it is fair to expect most of the President's ideas to come to fruition, but in an antagonistic Congress like Obama is facing now in the House, inability to get anything done has to fall on Congress' shoulders. Placing all the blame on a President is to be too forgiving to all the Congressional Representatives and all the ones that voted for them!

IT's not easy to be a president because u are the head of the country, and everybody is working up to u. Any slight mistake is going to cause the country greatly, as it affects reputation and ties with other countries as well. What citizens of a country want is very simple, afforable life with not much worries. Stability and ability to recover on its own.

Try to be in his position and let's see if you can accomplish more than what he can.

that's why I'm just a commoner. I'm not a politician because I can serve the country better by being a law abiding, tax paying commoner. But the person who asked for the position should not be giving alibis but results. Thanks.

Its hard to manage a country and be its president they shouldnt complain, having only a year will not make a country progress that fast. The president is only a human theres so many thing that he needs to solve especially if its here in Philippines. Try taking up his place and see what you can do.. Happy Mylotting :)

I understand that but still the same, it's a lame excuse. I just hope after another year the excuse won't be "I' just here for two years". Peace. Thanks for the comment.

hahaha Folks, do you sincerely belive that president of a country or any other politician-public personality is doing things as he said or as he eventually wish? I will allow the Genius - George Carlin - to explain ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKftRlzh2RM&feature=BFa&list=PL197921540414CCFA&index=69
