Owning a cat?

People owning a cat will maybe understand the question... Sometimes it seems rather as if the cat would think (s)he owns the person where they are at home and not the other way round. They are so totally different compared to dogs. What do you think?

I have noticed this quite a bit too, having had cats in my home..since the beginning of time. We take in strays. Only 2 at a time, but I feel like we're making a difference. I've never had any dogs as pets but I know friends and extended family who have dogs and they seem totally different, personality-wise. Dogs are loyal! And usually friendly, very hyper, very social. Cats seem to be the opposite though from what I've noticed... Kind of anti-social, not usually all that friendly, and they do prance around and scratch on things like they own the freakin' place! For some reason cats feel entitled to do whatever and go wherever they want. I know this probably sounds crazy but this is what I've noticed from a lifetime of living with at least one cat in the household. Ha ha. But I like cats because they're also semi-low maintenance. Sure they like attention but they don't require it 24/7 like I feel like some dogs do!

In my experience the cats I have known were more independent than dogs by far, although almost equally loyal. Just in another way.
