I'm trying to find any negatives of a beach wedding

I am trying to think of what could go wrong or spoil the atmosphere of a beach wedding in October. My first thought is the weather of course, but I wonder if anyone has been to a fall beach wedding and were there any negatives. All I can think of is positives :)

Another thing that can ruin the wedding is a shark attack. It could eat both the bride and the groom in the middle of the wedding.

I didn't think of that one.

It could happen.

I have not been to a beach wedding, but I suppose having a tsumani come up or a group of pirates invading and kidnapping the bride would be the ones I would think of. The other would be sand getting in the food. Of course those are rare that they only happen in movies or tv shows.

I would be more concerned with getting sand in my food instead of being swept by a tsunami. Shows what sort of a shallow person I am. More worried about gritty food then being swept out to sea and drowning.

lol...Well you know what they say..sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. However, I won't worry about the pirates..I'll just consider the sand/wind.

Tsunamis don't happen everyday. Sand on food is more likely, so you have a right to be worried.

I never been to a wedding on a beach and I don't know what part of the world you are thinking of, but I live in a lake community where there is a couple beaches and in October the Canadian geese are migrating, not only do they leave a mess, but they are very loud.

I'm in California. LOL the geese would be a really bad sound effect for a wedding, not to mention their messes.

I have also thought about having a beach wedding. Among the negatives I've come up with are: It's difficult to walk in heels on the sand. Your heels will sink. You can go barefooted if you want to be comfortable. There's the problem of the wind, but if it isn't too strong I think it will be good. The glaring sun would be a problem. Everyone would be squinting in pictures. But you can have them wear sunglasses if you want to. You'll have a cool wedding.

lol! I am not even engaged. I just thought of it because I love the outdoors. If she's doing sunset make sure it isn't directly infront as everyone will be squinting then, except for the priest. Offset the west direction a little to the right or left. I have lived near the sea all my life, except for the past few months, so I know how glaring the sun gets even at sunset. But then, we're at a tropical country, so who knows how it will be at your place. Goodluck with the wedding too!

Thank you. I too love the outdoors. I love forests and waterfalls the most. You have good advice about the sun. I think it would be great to live by the sea, only the fog might bother me. Let me know when you become engaged and I will congratulate youunless you don't ever want to be.

When I talked to others and saw pictures of those who have had a beach wedding ceremony, they wear flip flops. Some provide a basket of flip flops of varying sizes for the quests. You are right about the wind, I had not thought of that. I think her wedding will be late afternoon so the sun will be setting during the reception, which should be a beautiful atmosphere. Good luck with your plans. When is the big day?

Sand everywhere, if there is wind it will pick up and go flying. If you have older people in attendance, moving around may be difficult for them. Those are the only ones i can think of.

Good point..I don't go to the beach very much so I didn't think of wind. It is harder to move in sand, but terrific exercise for leg muscles. Your point about older people is well taken

beach wedding is good but i guess the environment and everything is not a matter but having you both there is the best. but it was so sweet to get married on beach let's just pray it won't rain of course.

I agree it can be very romantic and lovely and all. It's my daughter who is getting married and looking for a location. They do plan for rain and usually that means a tent. Thing is the venues have to be booked very far in advance. The wedding isn't until Oct 2012, and already many places are being reserved.

My nephew had both. Well not the beach, but a lake. They also had a smaller church wedding becasue the church required a church wedding to be a legit marriage...interesting, isn't it?

looks like a lot of couple now prefer to have a beach wedding than to have it in church...but i guess the priest would agree if i would say that church wedding is much more solemn held in the house of the lord...but no matter where as long as all the ingredients of love and relationship is there it does not matter...
