I am staying at home and I want to make most of my time in a productive way. I have worked before in a call center and I am confident with my english. I want to start an online tutoring job but I really dont know where to start... What are the things I should prepare for? How do I prepare my lesson plan? Where do I find students? Is there anyone here who is or has been an online tutor? How much do you ask per hour? What lessons do you offer? where do you find students?? I hope someone could help me...

Ha ha! She no read your post proplee. It might be best to leave the word "online" off your internet searches and look for employment agencies specialising in education tutors. Or search for language schools online. You'll find home-based work through these avenues, but at a professional level. Sorry I can't be more help; I don't know what's available in the Philippines. But here in the UK, that's how I found work as a GCSE tutor.

I never did it before but instead of having it online why don't you try to be a personal/group tutor which take place at your home? Means young kids/students come to your home and have your class there? You may start it with the resident young kids or anyone who would like to learn English.

i dont have kids yet and my husband dont like to have visitors if he is not home, especially if they are someone he doesnt know. Thats why im thinking that online is the best setting for me. anyways, i guess i have to figure it out myself, thanks a lot.

I have no idea of it and so cannot help you. But I must always pray to almighty God to make you successful as an online English tutor.

I want to do the same thing! Maybe we should set up a home business for tutoring online!! (no joking!) I teach 8 students (yes all at once) but it takes me 45 mins to get to the house i tutor at, the money is good, but it's only 2 hours a week, it's basically just a casual job because I stay home with my little ones. I would love to tutor online. I have tutored for about 10 years, and also taught English in Taiwan. If you have any hints, or ideas on how we can get going.. then I am in!! :)
