Dhoni again Choose to Field First in 2nd test.

I think in both matches his choices were spot on. In the first match, had Zaheer not pulled an hamstring, India could have really hurt England early on and could have made it a much better fight to win the match. His absence made Indian bowling line up very thin and that ruled out any chance for India. But here the bowlers capitalized and have bowled England out for 221. India is now poised to take a first innings lead. Go India Go. Cheers! Ram

As i think Dhöni is showing is oversmartness.just look some rewind and go to west indies series.when we can win the last test match,dhoni choose to draw that and india loose 2 point in rank.that means England came near to be top in Rank.and again with some stupid decison,he loose 1st test against England and came in pressure.don.t you think dhoni,s oversmartness or over confidence can cause to india loose its Ranking?

Hi Rajeev , Well Dhooni is probably the best captain India ever had and also is best captain in world at this time. He always had so less resources and yet he has won India everything there is to win . As a hindsight he proved right in putting England in as 8 wickets went down before england hit 150. Though Broad played ining of his life to take england to 221 but still it was a very good decision.

While I reply to this, his idea of bowling first seemed to be the right choice. But it also shows that he has lack of confidence in his bowlers. He feels that they may not be able to bowl out England in the fourth innings. This is especially bad for Harbhajan whose confidence and form are at the lowest. Also Zaheer's abscence means that India are without their spearhead.

Dhoni has won the toss again and had put England into bat for the second time in this series. I think considering that there was heavy cloud cover it was a good decision and his bowlers sure did not let him down and at the end of the first day its advantage India. Dhoni made a decision on the conditions and even though he would have had a though of the way the first test turned out, he made a correct decision. He like to gamble and this time it paid of. Yes India will feel the burden of Zaheer and Gambhir but the bowlers did bowl well and now lets see what the batsmen can do. India will need to get a good first innings total to get control of the game and then will look at a chance to level the series..

Ishanth got 1st wicket of Cook.We do not know whether it is right decision or not.But most of the time Dhoni was right.Ball is swinging in the morning and we saw that.But Team India will miss Zaheer khan because of his bowling who is excellent in swing condition.Hope Sreesanth will do a great job. Dhoni takes a brave decision and we know fortune favors the brave. Lets see what happen and best of wishes to team India that they will win this match as well as best wishes to little master to make century of century.

Yes they proved it to be worthy. The bowlers are doing a good job and claimed two important wickets. India made the first hour of the test to their name and am sure they will make this test in their name.

Dhoni is somehow exhibiting uncanny anticipation which most captains do not approve. He will get appreciation when he gets favorable results. I think he feels better to chase rather than setting up target. Usually this strategy works in 20-20 games. Anyway, this time Dhoni seems to have made his point so far. Let us hope his gamble works through out the test!

Hi rajeev, I agree with Saurabh Ganguly that it was a defensive move by Dhoni to bowl first. We have seen in the past that every time India has batted first in testing conditions like in perth or Kingsmead, Durban or Sabina park, Kingston Jamaica India batted first in testing conditions and won the test matches. Even on Lords in first test match, I feel if India had batted first would have won the match. I stick to this opinion even when India has taken 2 wickets for just 23 runs. At this time England are batting at 50/2 with Kevin Pietersen and Andrew strauss batting well after initial struggle.
