I downloaded all the components of windows live essentials and that includes windows movie maker (windows 7).
I need help with the editing thing. If I change the speed of the video, the audio that is really with the video is removed. Why is it like that and what can I do to bring back the audio?

I actually hate movie maker that is out now. They took soo much away from what you can do with editing.
As far as your problem the reason it takes the audio away is most likely because it is shrunk with the speed thus making it inaudible. My best advice, as it is the way I do with things like this is to use a program called Pazera Free Audio Extractor. What you can do with that is put the video in it and extract the audio into a sound file by itself. Then you can take you video into movie maker do whatever editing you want and then just add that audio file to it and save it that way. I hope this helps you out.

Yep that is it.
I try doing the similar steps that I described above with that simply because it is the cheapest way. Essentially if you can find a program that lets you adjust your audio by itself you want to go based off of which occurs first, whether sound comes before video or the other way around. Once you know which way it is you will then kinda have to play around and adjust it by milliseconds whether - or + . It takes a little work doing that way.
As I said though I have done it by also ripping the audio and just moving the whole track in editing. takes playing with it to get timing perfect just like the other though.

****** an edit from last post.
I forgot to say that which process is used also depends on if it is just a certain section of the video that is out of sync or if the whole thing is out of sync. ith just a certain section it really is better to do the more complicated way. That way you can pinpoint your problem and kick it out.
