Weird kind of summer

Summer is usually, sun, sea and sand. I live close enough that I can travel most weekends during the summer to the beach, and even if the water is a little cold in late July and August it is usually quite pleasant. This year, well June was a scorcher - way too hot for the time of year but the water was too cold, July the water temperature improved but it was so windy that the sand stung and the only way to be at the beach was to have a wind screen or wind breaker. Well today is the 1st of August and the day started with wind, rain and heavy storms - it feels like autumn. This just a very weird summer.

I don't know where you live, but my summer has been pretty weird here too, in Minnesota. It has been so hot and so incredibly humid, but also very rainy. And for some reason all of these thunderstorms and rain don't help to cool down the temperature. I hate humidity - UGH!

It sounds like you've not had many opportunities to go to the beach this year because of the weather. Maybe it'll be better Mid August or in September and you can have plenty of fun out there. I've not been to the beach in years but am going to save up for a beach trip next year.

Yes, it seems that this is an odd summer all around Europe.
I like the sea very much and when I learn that somebody lives near the sea, I feel noble envy:)) But now it's not a time to enjoy the beaches.
In my little country it's the same - short periods of very hot weather plus storms and rain. Today it was windy and now it's cold as in the autumn.
