Losing your momentum

So I was about to report yesterday, I was ready and all, the momentum was there, I was fighting my nervousness with all my might, but my professor! She did not finish her lecture on time! I wasn't able to report. And now my agony for waiting is prolonged! I'm beginning to hate her!!!!!! She could have told me earlier that there's a chance that I might not report as scheduled! And now I'm waiting again for our next class, that's on Thursday, to make my report. I should have been free of worries by now! But I feel like I've lost my momentum, the energy to do my reporting. It's like, whatever! I've already suffered (from preparations, from cramming and worrying), I should be rejoicing by now. To heck with that report. .

I want to tell you with all honesty, you will get back to get stressed and the momentum is no where to be seen. It happened to me while I was in college, very very similar to what happened to you. I got discourage. While the day of report is getting nearer, I get stress and stress was even harder. And then when the day of the reporting happened, I still get stressed but i surpassed it. i was expecting a lot of questions from the class, but thank God they understand what I was saying in front and so as the professor. I never thought my report will that be easy. Maybe i got stressed because the professor is one of the terror at my university and he is my professor in my major. But on some of the subjects I am cool with it. I do not mind reporting at all.

I hope my classmates won't ask any questions! My topic should be easy for them. And I provided a lot of examples.

Yes, grecy! You are right. I've got other things to do. I already have backlogs at work because of my school projects. .

I really hope so too. I know if you will familiarize your report, it will be less stressful. But of course I am sure you are not only focus on that report because you have other things to do too. I wish you good luck Secretbear! Please update me on what will happen after a week?

Don't you just hate that! Well, next time you will be thinking, maybe it will get postponed again but probably it won't. Either way you have to do more work, reviewing again. Hang in there.

I know how you could feel that way...its a disappointment! But when I lose my momentum I try to force myself back into it...like when I put off getting ready for a show sometimes I just have to make myself go into my room and start! Usually once there I can get it back and be on the right track! Good luck!

I am working as a part time professor in our local university and I know that my style of teaching (and having my students report and talk all the time) is nerve-wracking. However, I think this is a good training for students because they'll be able to have more experience talking thus would help them be confident when talking to other people or crowds. I have come to realize that those reporters or students who are super nervous to the point of stuttering simply means that they're not really that prepared. Anyhow, remember that life has a lot of surprises, like your situation now, there might be times when you won't get what you expect and there will be times when you'd be nervous out of your wits. But always remember that you're in school to be able to prepare yourself for your future. You will not lose anything if you fail in school, which is the best place to explore your talents. You never lose in schooling, you will always gain something. I hope the experience would help you to be more confident at the same time more humble. Have a great MyLot experience today!

Hi laydee! I'm happy to hear from the side of the teachers. But I have reported a few times when I was very prepared but it's just that I am not very used to speaking in front of many people. I get nervous and unfortunately I forget some of the things that I think I should have said during my report. I do feel at ease when I'm reporting something that I have done myself, like a project or something. Thank you very much for the advice!

Yes it has ever happened to me in college. I had prepared very well on a certain report and when it was my turn to present power went off and teacher suspend everything to the next week......I was soo demoralised I never even turned up for reporting. I feel bad when i have gathered momemntum then things get called off, I feel like i have already failed. Sorry for that my friend. Keep on revising you might end up reporting better than you expected.

Hi kwenge! Since yesterday I haven't taken another look at my report. I think I will only try to do some revising a couple of hours before the class.

Poor Secretbear, I really sympathize with you. But I have similar experience, the end of last term,we have a final exam. The final exam is oral interpretation,we should take the exam one by one. Then my classmates sat beside me,then he go out to the toilet and sat beside me again and talked wtih me.You know everyone are talking. But the teacher only said I and he are cheating. It won't be fair to us. But we have no choice. We had to exam next week. But I had recite the text for whole night. I losing my momentum. I have to adjust my mentality and recite text for whole week...That is bad but it's a good life experience for us.You know there always many unfair in the world.

Hi hoonwenting! That is just so terrible! Mine is only a report but yours! Yours is already an exam! I can imagine how much you prepared for that. That's much worse than my experience. But I've experienced that before back in college. It's really terrible.

i have also encountered that kind of experience. that you are so well prepared so happy that you have finished all of your report then suddenly a big rain came and your classes got suspended.i made me really sad. so what i have done is that i tried to find a light inside the dark, i just said to my self that it was a good sign that maybe i am not that prepared and that i should review my work more and expand it to have a good and better explanation.

I guess I should do that. But with all those research and preparations I have done, I just think it's already enough. I've lost all motivations to review my report.

lol =D See secret!! I told u it's better to be the first than being the last, because it means waiting even longer for the moment to come.. hehe Well, if i'm u, i will take it as a form of good luck, because i've more time to prepare the report again.. haha :D I'm not sure about u, but for me, i'm more confident after each delay.. lol

all of us, one way or another experience something like. specially now that the typhoon is coming and going in our country that there are more cancellations of classes. when i was still in school i myself experienced that. were you were so ready and all the things you need to do and say are all layed in your mind and you just felt that you are ready. then that moment was cancelled due to brown outs. back then the brownouts are so excessive that school gets cut or suspended. once you can not report that day or that moment the jive the strength will evaporate. we call it in our Filipino language nawalan na ng gana. the drive is no longer there. your adrenalin is no longer that high. but some people loves to prolong the waiting for they have still time to do it right, but some like us just wanted to get over it.

Hi secretbear! I also felt that way before when you are ready to give your best then my report was rescheduled. Since you are already prepared, just relax a bit as of now. Probably the day before your report, you can try to review it again.

Oh I really made it a point to relax today! I did some work at the office but it felt so relaxing because I wasn't pressured. Tomorrow, I still have a day to relax or either get stressed again for that report. .

This happens to me every time I need to report. I hate oral reports and I tend to make the report to finish as soon as possible - to get it over with and deal with the damage later. On report day, I am always psyched to do this that I wake early, I ate a full breakfast and sometimes, speak too fast just to have that relief. However, they are times when the reported date gets postponed due to some circumstances or another. I really can't classify whether i am relived for a moment or do +I have to worry for the next 'installment.' To get back on track, I usually put the report in one corner and forget it existed until the report day. By then, my nervousness are gone and I'm really do it.
