using inhibitors - champix/varenicline to give up smoking?

Has anyone tried using champix/varenicline to give up smoking. This medicine works by blocking the effects of nicotine on your body. It is supposed to help with cravings and withdrawals when giving up smoking. I have heard of one person that used this successfully. Someone else i know had success but started smoking again because it was a bad time to give up, he still thinks champix works. Does anyone else have experience or knowledge of champix success?
