My friend has limited sight and so she is not allowed to drive a car. Even though she wears the strongest possible glasses she finds sight challenging. She has to take many taxis and this is expensive. Due to cuts in my local area the council are going to cut bus services and axe some of them. My friend has a 4 year old son that is disabled. He has got autism and cerebral palsy. She also has an 18 month old daughter. Her husband lost his job and they have been getting money from the husband's mom. In September her little boy will start school and she isn't happy with her son going to that school. She didn't get him into any of the three schools they wanted. She is thinking of not sending him to school because life is already difficult for her.
How do you think my friend could travel to her son's school which is over one mile away?
Do you think a place in a school she likes might become available?
What do you imagine the council will do if she doesn't send her child to school?
Should she get some home help since she has such limited sight?

That's really tough.
She should go to the local community and plead her case. She needs help, and the township should have programs to help her and her family.
Even if the local government can't do anything, there should be some volunteer groups that would be able to help even if it's just bringing her son to and from school.

i think if someone could help her even only to bring and fetch her son to school then it will be a big help for them already. and i hope she'll get help from your government so they could live better. im hoping her well.

Here if you have limited vision you do get help...and it would be worth a shot for her to see if she could get some aid of some sort. I don't think she should keep here son out of school....he needs interaction and someone to help him! Here the parents get in pretty big trouble if they keep the kids home!

If the husband is not working, perhaps he could take the child to school. Once he is settled into school perhaps there is another parent that your friend could travel with or who could take the child to and from school along with their own child.
As home educating is legal in the UK, I don't imagine the council would be overly bothered if your friend decided not to send her son to school.

Sorry to hear that. Your friend's life is so hard. The son is disabled. She has limited eyesight. What can I say and do? I hope she can get subsidies from the government. Can she?
