Obsolete? I'm not sure what context you mean.
There's still plenty of horse racing, many people still ride horses for pleasure, it is still very popular for couples to have a horse drawn carriage for their wedding and in many countries, horses are still used for work or trade.
So no, in that respect, I dont think they are becoming obsolete. They still cost a fortune to buy them too!

If you mean obsolete as in using them for travel, then yes. But there's still plenty of horse racing, places to go on scenic trail rides, and people still own them for pleasure or as a hobby.
Personally, I have my own horse that I compete with and go to horse shows. My horse is an arabian and there are thousands of arabians and half arabians that show all around the world. Of course there are other breeds and they have their own shows as well. Also, there are equestrian sports in the Olympics in which riders from many countries also compete. So in that sense, no, horses are not becoming obsolete.
