The significance of reading in mylot!

A lot of newbies would usually ask the same question again and again regarding the rate in mylot and they wonder why they couldn't see how much they have earned after posting a discussion. Time and time again, i have read the veterans here writing a discussion suggesting to newbies how to go around in mylot and always pointing out to them to read the faqs. I never had such problem when i first joined mylot, i guess because i wasn't interested in gaining money the first time i joined. So i never checked how much i have earned after posting my first discussion. But the following day i saw that i was earning and that got me excited. I think everybody should learn that the most important key in starting something new is to read, read and read. If you are too lazy to read the faqs.

This is very intelligent observation that you have made. and since I have a few minutes of free time it's a great time to browse thru the Terms or the FAQ if the is something specific to be answered.... However there is the social aspect of asking a question like that. there are many people with the same question being drawn to a specific discussion where they can comment and meet others. The social environment is what myLot is all about, right?

True. But actually i accidentally press submit even before i get to finish this discussion because i was on the phone. I was supposed to add that if they feel lazy reading the faqs, they should try and read the started discussions of the veterans making use of the search engine. It won't be a waste of time because you get rewarded for using the search engine as well. And for most people who are here just for money, they can do that and it's even much easier than starting a discussion, asking the same questions that has been answered several times already. That's one reason why most veterans avoid that kind of discussion because i think they got fed up of repeating themselves again and again.

Very well said Tony! I appreciate your thoughts. New lotters should read and learn from the post and when they participate, they make their presence felt to others. They should understand that earning is a bonus and is secondary to learning and participation. When I joined mylot, earning was not my primary motive and it has not changed even after 5 years of joining here. I switched over from Yahoo answers, when someone suggested joining this site. Initially, for few days when I responded to few posts and started a few, I did not get any earnings. The screen was showing meager 0.3 or 0.4 cents, I felt slightly disheartened to see the pace of earning. However, when I started liking the site, I forget about the earnings and my motive was to participate in as many posts as possible.

I accept your bow gracefully and with full honours. It is good to hear that veterns like me inspire you and you love mylotting. It does not matter, when any day your mood is off and you are not here or post something which may not be as good, as you would have liked it to be. Yeah, I would also wish that newbies should come here with a spirit and determination of participation and learning.

Wow DEe! 5 years. *giving a bow* It's those veterans like you that inspired me to do well in mylot although there are days when i'm just being stubborn and stupid! Thanks for this one and i hope the newbies will be able to read and learn from this discussion.

Very true! Much like when you are buying a new gadget or equipment or appliance. You have to read the manual first to be able to understand how the thing works especially if it is really new to you. If you don't do that, you might end up destroying your own equipment. Reading is essential in everything we do. Examination papers can't be answered if you don't read the instructions on how to answer. Really, it should be a standard operating procedure for any users to read the best thing that they can get for information on the use of anything. This will save them from a lot of mishaps that may happen. This is also true with myLot so new myLotters, as always all the veterans would remind, should start reading the FAQs and guidelines in here. Good point in here toniganzon!

There's no problem with asking veterans thru pm but to start a discussion and it's the same as before sometimes is very tiring so most veterans don't respond to such discussions because they are so fed up with that already. Glad i could help you.

hi toni:) well i'm new to mylot, but i didn't post anything that asking how much will i earn, because just like you its not only about the money, but of course that's a plus factor, i enjoy participating in discussion here, its like learning, and i think that's the biggest earning i'll get from here.

Asking questions is good if you need clarifications. But before one asks questions i think they should check first if that question had been asked already before and was answered. Thanks for participating.

hi toni! mylot comes with an instruction manual??? who would have thought of that??? lol! just kidding! seriously though, this is a good point that you brought up. reading the FAQS in mylot, not just before signing up but regularly, helps everyone. veterans and newbies alike can really benefit from keeping one informed about the site's rules and regulations. i've been with mylot for quite sometime already and i still occasionally read the FAQS when i'm unsure about my post or discussion.

HI toni Vetrans are vetrans and I cannot dare comment about them - they are so loving and caring for all For people in your and mine age group - I think we are more mature, have some patience still left in us For the newbies (mostly the teens and early 20s) I think they lack patience. I cannot say that they are not much aware about internet or how to find something as they were born in the era of computers and should know how to search. So I think it is their impatience that makes them so.

I could agree with this as well. Patience is indeed part of the reason that it seems easier to just ask a ? then just to go to the terms and read them. I get it.

Hi toniganzon and sid and flash Iam one of the elderest of older ones here to me the younger gen. are brought up in the era of instan everything so when they come face to face with the guidelines, the rules of discussion and the faq's they are stunned, they have to actually take time to read this wow? if there was a way to flash this info into their brains in 5 seconds like so much of what we get instanlty then they would be pleased, but here its read and engage your brains and that takes a few minutes not seonds. my opinion of course. lol lol lol

The veterans always here to help them~ No doubt! You will help them too right if you found those discussions??? I will place a comment to them and because they keep asking the same question so my answer will be more shorter and shortest..'Please read the guidelines/faqs'. Till perhaps I will just put ?? in my comment!!There is no way for me to put that!! Perhaps they thought they can get more money here. I hope anyone who got referrals they should guide their referrals on how to be an active and good mylotter than stressing more that they can earn much here..(^^)

i totally agree, but i too had a discussion asking why my earnings had gone down. but the reason for this was my discussions had been exactly the same for 3 days, then suddenly dropped, so i couldn't understand that. but i since found out why.. but you are correct.. people should read more. and even if they don't want to read the long drawn out FAQ's.. they could search for discussions relating to their question, rather than starting a new discussion.. unless of course they are starting the discussion on purpose to earn?

Dear, your case is very specific and sometimes that kind of doubt can be answered through discussions. And regarding those people who only want to earn, then i feel sorry for them. One way to get higher ratings and higher earnings is through discussions participated by people and the ability to make the discussion longer.

sadly, many people are just money orintated and just start a discussion about anything to get money and make it really short and stupid to move onto the next one quickly.. sad really :(

I think it's necessary to read the faqs from every site you want to sign up. It will take a time but is a must. Also is important to read the terms and conditions to avoid surprises you might not like. If you don't want to read on the screen you can print the stuff and read it whenever you can.

Hi Rick! Someone has started a discussion about whether people read the FAQs or Terms and Condition before they sign up in any sites and majority of them say they are not reading it at all even if they know it is there and the function of it!! No wonder they keep asking the same questions! They laugh to it as it seems unimportant to them..And most of them are newbies............so sad ~Just admit that they are actually lazy to do so....

I"m guilty of being lazy reading sometimes but i guess i just learn from others. But when i find it too difficult, i do check the guidelines to see what i'm doing wrong. And i do read the veterans posts whenever i see one coming up that looks new.

Lol isn't this just so true :P I really respect myLot veterans who are really patient and accommodating enough to reply to each and every inquiries newbies would throw their way. Yeah, I just wish newbies (like me) would read first the FAQs before asking any questions :P I'm also a moderator of various forums before I stumbled on myLot and I KNOW the pain of creating FAQs for people to read so I know it's a bit irritating when people ask questions that are already in FAQs :P That's what FAQs are for in the first place, right? =^_^=

I get irritated by faqs sometimes especially when they're too long and couldn't easily be understood, so i turn to the posts instead coz for sure you'll see all the answers there. Besides, we have the search engine to look for similar discussions that was started already!

Yes and actually they can earn rewards from using the search engine!
• Philippines
8 Aug 11
Hi Toni, yeah that's also true especially if the FAQ is novel-like in length. Lol! But what I just want to share is that when newbies have some inquiries, they can use the search bar first or go the the FAQ, do a quick "CTRL+F" and try to search. Who knows maybe the answer is already in the FAQ :)

Hello there. I guess you are right. I think some newbies here were confused especially when they joined other sites like this where they can also earn by just making/ responding to the discussions on a particular topics posted by other members . Because I noticed that other sites were really confusing when it comes to payouts. I don;t know that would be the main reason but that's what I observed.

So it really helps to read a lot first before jumping into water that you don't even know how deep is. I hope this discussion would help those to read the discussions of veterans and the faqs as well. Just use the search engine before starting a discussion that was started by others already. Have fun in mylot!

hi toniganaon well I have lost patien ce with newcomers who refuse just refuse to read the guidelines and rules of discussion and the questions and answers. they will instead just plunge so eager to make money they shoot themselves in the foot making discussion after discussion that all break the rules. and yet they think I am stupid to tell them to read the guidelines, the rules of discussion and the questions and answers. well I never get my posts deleted so now who is stupid.I think modern young people are so usedto instant everything that if they have to use their brains and read for fifteen minutes they yell boring. well how boring is it when you whimper why was my discussion deleted? after all the information to keep you from making rule breaking discussions is the mylot admins information so read the darned stuff.read all the info then you will know what you are doing in mylot.read THE INFORMATION PLEASE JUST STOP AND READ ALL THE INFORMATION B EFORE POSTING ANYTHING.IT HELPS A LOT

I couldn't agree with you more. There are a lot of methods to earn at Mylot, if one do not check the faqs when he or she gets into this site first time, he or she might totally get lost. And through the faqs, a newbie can quickly find a proper way to make some money on this site. But as you said, mylotters shold pay more attention to the discussions, forget about making money, than you will have fun here.

I totally agree with you Toni. We learn through reading. Actually, when i was a newbie here i read the guidelines and the FAQ. Alongside with that i would read postings on how some things are done here at Mylot among other things. That's how i learn my way in Mylot.

I understand your point but not all people are familiarized in mylot besides like you said "newbies" it's expected that they will ask the same questions as others do and most of them are not using the search button effectively so we have to be more patient dealing with the newbies.

Patience is not only the thing. YOu see when you have been here in mylot for ages, people's patience also run out. So it's better to tell them to use the search engine and i hope this discussion would be a good information. Ever wonder why there's no veteran answering to the same queries asked everyday?

i am new here too but I kept on reading the FAQs and the guidelines every now and then. It is very important to read. Every time I'm new in a site or in a new online community, I really read everything about the site. I want to avoid mistakes as much as possible, I don't want to be embarrassed. So whenever there's something I want to do here and I don't know how, I'll just check around the site and read and read for information.

That's a very good attitude but we all know how pretty tiring reading the faqs could be especially if they're too long. YOu can check the discussions for a specific question you have in mind by using the search engine.
