Hello. I just had my first daughter and decided to breast feed her. But when I want to store my breast milk I can only pump 1 or 2 ounces each time. I found it not enough to feed my child. Does anyone have tricks or tips to add more milk. I really need help.

Feeding often rather than pumping can help increases the inflow. As I was told by the elders the more feeding helps more production of milk you get. What the elders suggested me for both my kids at my time was to have get the garlic fried in clarified butter and it helped too. Best wishes.

Someone told me fenugreek seed will help. Did anyone try this? Does it work?

I have never tried fenugreek. Even I too did not like garlic but just after delivery even the doctors suggested to take the garlic fried in clarified butter. Another reason is that Garlic helps heal any internal wounds (stitches etc in case of Ceaserean session) as it acts as antibiotic. In case you are not comfortable eating garlic, should take the diet suggested by your doctor.

Hello zalilame, first of all my warmest congratulations to you on having the baby! In order to increase the quantity of milk, first of all make sure that you are eating proper and well balanced diet that includes lots of veggies, greens, fruits and nuts. Also up your calcium intake by drinking 2-3 glasses of milk and keep taking your regular iron and calcium supplements, at least until the time you nurse your daughter. When it is time for you to feed the baby or pump out milk, first drink at least 2 glasses of water or a glass of water along with some other liquid diet like soups, juices or something like that. It will definitely increase the quantity of milk.

I definitely keep that in mind. I thought drinking a lot of water would help. I never realised that I need to take calcium as well.Thank you.
