Meet our new sports heroes, the Dragon Warriors!

Philippine flags are now flying proud and high at Tampa Bay, Florida in USA as our team, the Dragon Warriors won 4 gold medals (more to come I hope) and 1 silver medal in the 10th International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) World Championships! The Philippine Dragon Boat Federation team as they are formally called - bested other teams that are better funded and supported by their countries. We should take note that government sports committees like POC and PSC did not support the Dragon Warriors and did not allocate any funds for their trainings. What's more infuriating is that a certain Mark Joseph from POC belittled their achievements. Calling on PNoy: can you please terminate the employment of this useless government employee called Mark Joseph? The Dragon Warriors will attempt to win their 5th Gold Medal tomorrow, for their country's pride.

I was surprised by this bit of sports news. I didn't even know we were competing in such an event, let alone know that there is such an event. Whatever is that hullabaloo you talking about must receive some real serious attention. Events like this, where our built and physique stands a chance of winning, must really be given importance, and funding. Enough with politics in sports. Let the athletes paddle faster and cap the gold.

sad to say but the dragonboat team has its share of politics the reason you dont heard of the dragonboat team competing is because they are not the official Philippine dragonboat team bcoz they were recently disbanded and remove fundings by Phil Olympic Commitee which is very political in nature POC created their own dragonboat team but unfortunately they are not internationally accreditted only the old disbanded team Thus the old dragonboat team regroup and ask sponsorship to compete to the US which they were able to and get 5golds and 2silvers now POC is going to have a press conference to wash thier hands in public

As far as I am concerned, the Philippine Sports Commission of the Philippines Olympic Committee are both useless. I had not heard anything glorifying for the athletes as far as these commission/committee are concerned. We had had so many athletes who had deteriorated because these supposedly managing agencies simply couldn't get their acts together. If at all, they were functioning for self-serving purposes, I guess. Just my opinion, please. If I had heard something good in the past, I would not have written this.

Yes, the Pinoys did it again, making us all proud. I just hope our government take a look on how to address their problems on the support system they need.

The Pinoys did it again, making us all proud. I just hope that the government take a look at this and start supporting them. I heard that they are just soliciting from sponsors and no support from our government.

This is the kind of sport that our government should support because there's a big chance that we'll excel in the sports, like what they're doing now, something that's far from happening if we compare it to basketball. If what you said that someone in the POC is belittling them, them those in charge should act on it, as you said terminate his employment because if the POC can't provide some funding then they should make up for it even with just a couple of nice words of encouragement. The good thing is that we already know someone in the POC who has a "wang wang" mindset, for that his days there are numbered.
