Yeah, that's right most of the time.
The first time I've
realized that a network was biased and sensation was during the Philippine 2010 elections, didn't watch that network for months. then, they were blamed some how for indirectly causing deaths in a hostage situation where media likes to play the key part on how the cops due their part. Lastly, it's another network that is being hated and boycotted also for humiliating ONE car driver who went to the flood despite of the warnings, which I know the whole story now. the network even apologize, which is too late now.
I am not sure about United States, United Kingdom or the Euro Nations is concern about how their media is presenting news. But definitely, as I grew up I learn that media is not always free in expressing the informative data unless their bosses allowed them to do so?
most are after the ratings or higher competition I believed...

Its the same way in the United States. Its all about getting the higher rating and the most money. I seriously believe its like that all over the world. The media consist of a bunch of greedy people looking for the most money and not caring how they get it. They would pimp their own mom to get the most money. Its quite ugly out there in my opinion.

Hello Lelin,
I believe the bosses are nothing more than just a bunch of greedy people in my opinion. but i noticed that even reporters too can be biased. I have never seen or heard and apology coming from the said network that became bias during the Presidential Elections. they all just care about the money and ratings and for them, that's all that counts. have a nice day

Well,I guess sometimes it's about rating and money, and sometimes it's because of the education the reporters have received. If they grew up believing one idea even if it is a wrong one, they would stick to it and not even realize that they are biased. That is terrifying

from my Basic Philippine Constitution class i have learned that freedom is not absolute, but with regards as to how media works in our nation, i believe for them freedom is absolute.. Media is very much powerful that they are ones that regulate there own rules.. No one has ever been put to prison when this media people commits mistake, lets take for example the manila hostage crisis... it is clear as to who was or is to be blame and yet they suffer no consequences in doing so..

Hello
Keithgawpz, Freedom should be expressed with responsibility to know the consequences of ones actions because some people just express themselves with out knowing the consequences or how another person can have this affect on them. I think if the Cops were more responsible in keeping the media away, probably we would have had a chance to save the hostages. have a nice day.

They're either biased, or out of their minds.. or both.
I don't watch news because it's either sad, political, or both.

the worst thing about them is being too politically connected. some bad news are bad enough but i know they like to sell news that are completely terrifying and down right ridiculous

ohh if it's too much on politics I turn the channel, sure I should listen but I feel like if its' going to be important to me someone will tell me, and then I'll look more into it. If it's terrifying and POLITICAL (like current in US) then I definitely DON'T listen to it.
Sometimes it's terrifyingly stupid
Othertimes Terrifyingly gory.
Other times very sad.

Hello Jaiho
sis,
Would you mine
giving me a reason or a simple explanation as to how and what started you to put up an anti logo against Global Media Network 7? Because as far as I can remember It was the Abias Cbn who had shown to be more Bias than any news that I've ever seen. If Richard GOrdon didn't run, i'd never would have realized how they favored Presidential candidates and disapprove those who are not their liking. at least GMA apologized and never meant to cause harm on the issue of Mr. LAo, ABS never admit their Bias mistake during election which I believe caused one of their high executive to Resign. have a nice day

Hi,Letran!
Generally,I'm content with Chinese Media. At least the local ones. They report news quite objectively and care about people's lives and well-being.The only problem of Chinese Media is that you can rarely hear anything in conflict with the Party's interests. They all speak for the Communist Party of China, which inevitably leads to the consequence that you can rarely hear different voices concerning some international issues. Most of us believe what the Chinese Media say, though.
Things are getting better now. Many newspapers dare to speak for themselves and question those issues which the government or local government dealt with improperly.Still, there is a long way to go.
Have a nice day~

Hello
BabyAnna, That's probably why you're country is so stable because there aren't much talked
about politics and corruption. unfortunately our media here has so much freedom that every news about controversies are totally sensationalized. Well, with regards to this I think i should just silence in terms of China's censorship, maybe there is an advantage to it some how. have a nice
day.

Hehe. There is something good about censorship, and something not.But I still believe that if we want to get ourselves involved in an international term, people must learn how to deal with information given by foreign countries. Some people just reject all those information.

In my own personal opinion, media will die if they don't sensationalized things. As stated before in a previous discussion, it's their breads and butter. But as an individual, I have a choice of turning that TV off and find some respectable news org that will give me the pure news or, at least the least sensationalized and biased kind.
Perhaps we could learn some lessons from the decaying practice of reporting. We can be a better audience if we can spot networks doing these things and thanks to the new technology, we can search for own news preferences aside from the usual choices. I cannot blame the networks becuase I understand that they need to run a business but perhaps that not a blanket excuse for doing a crappy service and being hypocrite on their slogans.
I guess in this stage, we are more free and more critical when it comes to our news. We deserve better since information is a very crucial in today's world. we don;t want to be exploited and I don't want to be an excuse for the networks for their 'unbiased' service.
For me, this situation forces me to look beyond the news and the industry. After all, we deserve better.

Hello
jeanne, Most definitely and boring to boot. unfortunately, most people don't have internet and cable television that they turn into local news most of the time. It's like a different form of marketing but one thing is for sure, they get more income by more people watching their news. you're right we really deserve better than anything else.If network is a business then there's no point listening to their news because its' all sensationalize. Have a nice day.

You are right that majority of the people tune in to local news becuase they don't have any alternative but I pray and hope that they don't accept every report as spooned news and allow themselves to critique what they saw and heard from the networks. Even with that, they can judge media for themselves whether that particular network deserve their patronage.

And then the people believes on it right away
I only wish my people would have been more smarter in having differ views and more research than making the media as the source of all information

The Media do really have the tendency to sensationalize. Sometimes they make big things out of small one if only to gain media mileage. This is the reason why I don't always believe the media. Indeed there are also bias reports and surely the reason has something to do with the favor they receive from the favored ones. However there are also some few exceptions on this issue.

Hello Salonga, They like to sensationalize and make the news even more frigtening to a lot of people. Instead of making people aware they want to make the people be afraid of the incident instead of helping us be vigilant. I don't know who are these favor once, but I know one network who favored a Presidential candidate that made him win his position today. Have a nice day.
