Hi friends, I used to drink lot of of coffee daily. But my friends advised me to stop this practice, because the caffeine contained in it is very bad for health in long run. So how far this is true? Will this practise have very serious effect or very normal one? Any one have any idea?

welcome to mylot ! You are also of my age. Where are you? Coffee -- drink two or three times a day. that too filter coffee. enjoy. if u r in chennai go to Sangeetha hotel in RAPuram and drink Kumbakonam degree coffee. superb taste. enjoy. But if one drinks more it may have negative effect.

That is not true! My grandma drinks coffee every morning all her life, and it's not just coffee, it's strong coffee! And right now, she's still very strong and energetic and very healthy.

in the case of my husband i think it's true. he always drink coffee twice a day or more. and recently, he suffered nervousness. so he decided to stop this habit completely. he drink milk instead of coffee. however, coffee is an anti oxidant as well therefore just drink it moderately.

In my experience as a long term, heavy coffee drinker, no effects of caffeine are noticeable - either good or bad. I believe we make our own tolerance level and only sudden, major changes would have any visible but brief effect. If you like coffee - carry on enjoying it!

Depends on how you define 'a lot'. Studies have actually shown that drinking 3 - 4 cups a day is beneficial for the heart, etc. But it's important to note that it has to be the type of coffee that you can find at coffee houses (ie. the more expensive type of coffee).
