How long did the process of becoming a christian take you?

This is a question for people who did not grow up as Christian but became Christian later in their life. It is a huge process to become a Christian and it does not just happen in one day.
I always went to church as a kid but for some reason when I got older we stopped going. I am starting to go, but even that is quite a process for me.. I wonder how long it would take for someone who had never been to a church in their life.

You are a Christian as soon as you ask Christ into your heart as your Saviour. It is not a complicated process and it is a day that will stand in your memory forever. He wants us to ask and He wants us to be more Christ like.

For someone who has never been to church or anything before they would have a lot to learn about christianity first. That is the process I am talking about.
