What's with pop rice and politics?

Here's the situation: I love pop rice! I grew up eating the golden ampao (poppy rice) for merienda, as well as the chicharon, pusit na maanghang, and all the kind of proto junk food that the sari-sari store retailed some two scores ago. So what's this I hear that one high falutin sport official had likened the Dragonboat Paddlers, recently hailed as World Champions, to the lowly masa food called ampao? Am I missing something? Well, I have yet to know the story why the Dragonboat Paddlers, a team composed of poor athletes, is not considered a national team nor official delegates to world events. Must be some crazy story, technical, legal, and political. Actually, I am not interested to hear any explanation from some high falutin sports official who cannot even distinguish pure muscle from pop rice. I am sure he cannot even paddle an oar with precision and velocity, so why listen to him? The Dragonboat Paddlers had worked their way tough and hard to become World Champions, and lest that official misconstrue the golden ampao from the five golds the paddlers brought home, he better put some in his mouth to know the difference!

Oh i love ampao too! They are delicious to the bite! How can that official call them ampao, when they have even brought with them 5 golds and 2 silver medals? Anyway, PNoy now and the media , have given the Dragon Boat teams, their due glory from the Filipinos. Now, the senators have even promised to give PhP5,000.00 of their bonuses. I think those who said that are now squirming in their seats out of shame!

i greatly believe this is politically motivated eileen. you know how corrupt the people, if not the government. there i heard, someone or some entities also gain from the delegates or whichever they will consider to be the national or official team.

well, the news revealed that the philippine olympic committee which is the one tasked and privileged to recognize national teams is only following the guidelines set by the international olympic committee. the dragon boat falls under canoeing and kayaking, that's why the philippine olympic committee recognized another team other than the dragon boat team. the POC could not recognize two teams under one category.

It should be the other way around. The true Ampaos are the useless junk politicians and their holier than us worthless lapdogs in the PSC and POC who thinks they are better than the Dragon Boat team just because they are officially anointed by the bureaucracy. Thr trouble is they have generated 0 - as in nada, zilch, kaput, nothing win for their version of the boating team, while the Dragon Warriors as we all know have won 5 gold and 2 silver medals. The useless, waste of taxpayers' money people in both PSC and POC should just resign and join showbiz because for all we know - they failed miserably and they have no right lambasting the new Philippine heroes called the Philippine Dragon Warriors.

hi eileen.. i also dont like that they called the dragon boat team members as already old and the old people should resign. i dont think so because they have proven that with their wise years they have grown stronger and even won us with 5 golds.

like what the president has said.. he will do something in that issue with regards to politics.. reason behind that for me is there is no "ninong" or god father politician that is supporting them up, i mean, in order for you to be known in or be accredited from the philippine agency that supports athtletes, it is not the athletes skills that makes them pass the criterion but how powerful their Ninong (god father) politician is..

hi friend, think the situation only the more exposes the lousy way our government does a selection for our national teams, no wonder we never won any gold medals in the Olympics, what with all the grand standing, "sisihan" (blaming), finger pointing and name calling, and the all important "palakasan system" ( not what you can do or what you know but whom you know system)
